I had those articles saved for a long time and just decided to expand the article, as I plan on expanding the California Gurls article and include information about the remix w/ Cali Swag District, and I knew it would drive traffic to the article, so I wanted to fix them up so they would look decent Lol! Alright, thanks for letting me know! The picture is fine but the user uploaded it the totally wrong way. It is a promo image, and the user uploaded it as if they created it themselves. But it is a promo photo of the group and should go under that licensing next time uploaded. But one thing I would like to point out, to increase the article's quality or as some would call it, wikify the live performances section more prose-like as seen in an article such as I Invented Sex, because eventually when the it has peaked, and done whatever it should go up for GA. & Btw, a quote about the article will appear on the Wiki homepage soon, see here! Admin help, please[edit]

{{adminhelp}} I see that a photo on the Cali Swag District page has been tagged as showing no proof of permission. I disagree, but it would be helpful for an admin, here or on Wikimedia Commons, to examine the issue. I did not upload the photo, and do not own it, but I did add it to the Cali Swag District page because it was available in Wikimedia Commons at the time without the tag it has now. The photo, File:CaliSwagPressPhoto.jpg, was placed on Wikipedia by CaliSwagDistrict, who appeared to own the photo at the time they did so. I've added many photos of my own, and released them into the public domain as you can see on my user page. In "my preferences", "signature", you need to un-check the box that says, "Treat the above as wiki markup."

Homer, Alaska[edit]

I noticed the photos that I added to Homer, Alaska of City Hall and the courthouse, which were working fine when I added them, are not loading now. Hope you don't mind, I took the liberty of moving your images of Homer buildings to Commons so that other projects can use them. I'm not sure some of these other suggestions would be particularly useful, the public works building in particular is not real photogenic. There is already a picture of the library at File:Homerlibrary.JPG, although it is a few years old and there is that new sign on the side of it now. I acknowledge that many buildings may not be photogenic, but I believe that they are still of importance no matter how pretty or ugly they are. Well, I don't want to make a big thing out of this but your belief that a photo of a small town public works building is important to the article is probably not one with broad support. I highly disagree with you on the fact the album has "enough information to warrant its own page". Now that the release date has been pushed back indefinitely, there is no need for this now. Libyan no-fly zone operation merger proposal[edit]

Why have you decided to close the merger proposal? It has only been discussed for 1-2 days which is hardly sufficient time to claim that a consensus has been reached and the discussion is closed. There was quick, clear and decisive consensus on the matter when the issue was discussed on the Merger Project Page, which lasted for nine days before it was closed there by another editor. Please forgive me if I'm rehashing information that you already know, but the purpose of my edit was to express the fact that the monarch of the United Kingdom is also the monarch of fifteen other countries independent of the UK, ie Commonwealth realms. This is a different situation from that of England, Scotland, Wales, etc, which are all part of the United Kingdom. (At least that's my understanding of the political situation, given that I'm a US citizen who doesn't have that much personal experience with the Commonwealth) Having said that, I'm glad that we both agree that the outcome of my edit is legitimate. I looked at the MM/actor article and talk page. The article definitely needs wording cleanup, as well as references in all/most of the paragraphs as it's a BLP, held to a much higher standard. Without inline citations that I can double check, I'm not sure if the article does or doesn't meet notability guidelines. First, good job!! I did take a look at the nom, and it needed some minor fixes but it's fine now. As for the hook, each part of it should be mentioned in the article, with an inline citation at the end of the sentence(s). For example, if part of the hook ("is run by an all-volunteer staff ") is in one sentence within the article, then that sentence needs an inline citation at the end of the sentence. If "treats any species of bird brought to them for treatment" is mentioned elsewhere in the article, again, make sure you have an inline citation at the end of that sentence within the rticle. Hi everyone, I am looking for help on an article I created on Jan. 10th, Juneau Raptor Center. An administrator I frequently collaborate with made some suggestions, but I would love more feedback. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In the past two days I've done the following:

1) Reworked some of the sentence structures for clarity. 2) Added inline citations for the DYK? hooks. (It never hurts to have more refs! :-) 3) Corrected some errors in the refs (Those without author names have unsigned bylines) 4) Added a photo to the infobox, from the Wikimedia Commons. 5) Added the name of the organizations president to the infobox, per the reference on donated food.

Anything else you can recommend, either to meet DYK? criteria or just to make the article a little better in general, let me know. I won't take it personally! :-)

If I were to offer criticism, I'd say the article relies too heavily on sources written by the JRC's own president, Sandy Harbanuk, and goes into far too much detail when devoting entire paragraphs to the latest rescues' individual fates. Interesting. There was only one, non-controversial contribution (regarding the donation of food) made referencing Janet Capito (not Sandy Harbanuk, as Huon stated) Also, the bird references were chosen to illustrate the fact that numerous species of birds are helped by the Center, not just raptors. While I wrongly believed there was more than one source by Harbanuk (no idea how I screwed up counting beyond "1"), I was referring to the fifth source, Raptor center treats more than 200 birds every year, written by Harbanuk who according to that very article "has volunteered in rehabilitation and education for the Juneau Raptor Center for nine years, and is its president." This was uploaded in error. This was my first attempt to upload the file from my Netbook, and I received an error message. I thought the upload had failed, so I tried again. My subsequent attempt was error free and that upload is now part of the article at Escape from Furnace. The file in question here is at best redundant, and can be deleted at any Admins discretion... HI Mike. Thanks for pointing me to Miriam Schlein; didn't know about her before but now I do. :) I've also been working on women's biographies, a lot. At first, it was because of the ArtAndFeminism drive, and now in honor of Women's History Month (March). I'm aghast at the scarcity of women's biographies vs. those of men. Math, science, film, dance, sculpting... you name it. I've been translating es wiki bios to the en wiki. One or two are at DYK now but I think we're holding them for March. ADN name change[edit]

Oh boy, now I started something. Notice that my statement contained plenty of qualifiers. Most, but not all, of my experience with what I'm talking about comes from dealing with professional wrestling biography articles. A wrestler spends years and years working main events around the country or world under a certain name, then gets signed by WWE. Almost immediately, editors start clamoring for a page move to whatever different name the WWE has given them for trademark purposes. See Dutch Mantel for an example of where this strategy didn't work. The kind of crowds that wrestling consistently drew in Memphis and Puerto Rico when he was on top were nothing to laugh at. Looking at the ADN, I see 65+ years as the Anchorage Daily News, versus one day of the physical paper being Alaska Dispatch News, plus however many days or weeks it's been that that the website has borne the latter name. People on the streets will continue to refer to it as the Anchorage Daily News for years to come, regardless of the name change. That is the difference between a common name and an official name. I would offer Willis Tower as an example here. Long established name as the Sears Tower, quick name change, still called Sears Tower by many. But the Wikipedia page for it is Willis Tower. And now a plug for my new baby, WP:WikiProject Women writers, which is 8 days old... Plus, do you know of any women writers from Alaska (or anywhere else on the planet) who don't have an article yet but should, or have an article which needs improvement? Unfortunately, the coverage I've seen given to her across various articles is borderline WP:UNDUE. If you're in Juneau, I'm sure you know who Bob DeArmond was and who M. Mike Miller is. They also wrote rather extensively about Southeast (in DeArmond's case, for over three-quarters of a century), but one may somehow get the impression that Roppel's works were more important. Miller also represented Juneau in the state house for 16 years, so there's obvious notability apart from his writings. Oh yeah, there was also Claus Naske, who died within the past year, and is arguably right behind DeArmond as the preeminent 20th-century historian of Alaska. Naske was one of my professors and his son was one of my schoolmates, so of course I'm biased, but there's someone worthy of the sort of accolades I see Roseistep giving Roppel. RK Have just been going over your recent "collaborations" with me. Asking respectfully, do you ever just make the changes you recommend on Talk Pages and via adding templates yourself? Wikipedia articles are not exams waiting for you to collect from your students and sit down to grade. I have to run along to paying work shortly, but I wonder if I've started something by placing stub tags on it. When I first came upon the article, the structure and referencing were not stub-quality, but the actual textual content most certainly was. To me, from reading the relevant policy and/or guidelines, that means that it's still a stub. From the looks of things, it probably won't stay a stub for long, so I'll keep checking back. I forget where I previously mentioned this, but someone is likely to bring up his legal/criminal issue from 1984. BLP may still apply as a recently deceased person, but regardless, I wonder if a discussion needs to take place about that (he was accused of raping a teenage girl, if I remember correctly). reverted your move[edit]

I reverted your move on Valhalla train crash. Despite what it may seem from recent such articles, there's no need to use the year or any other date indicator in an article title for a rail disaster unless there's been more than one at the same location (for instance, we used December 2013 Spuyten Duyvil derailment for that accident because there was a freight derailment earlier that year near that location as well (which we still haven't created an article on, but whatever ...). Perhaps - I've been slowly working my way back into more article creation, coupled with my jags of automated editing. I'm slowly working my way through a book of colonial American painters, and there are some other articles I've been meaning to start here and there.

Its some news about a politician. Mention it on the politicians page but a separate page containing a single paragraph is overkill. All the article says is pretty much what the politicians own article says - and that is the apprpopriate place for it. Questioning why an article should exist is not side stepping any process. Notability needs to be established FIRST - not create something first and hope it becomes notable. You still have not said anything that is not already in the main article. @General Ization: It might be within policy, but it isn't good policy. It's heavy handed. Make a good faith edit, and if it's important enough, and not a very minor issue as with this issue here, then notify the editor. You could have accomplished the same thing with a simple edit. I almost never use the revert tool for this reason. Try to be welcoming and assume good faith. Using the the revert tool for such a minor issue, that could have been adequately handled in the same edit summary for an edit that was a total of 4 characters, is too much.
