Up to date?[edit]

Hello, I see you have made some improvements to Citrus Bowl.

I notice the article contains this statement, "The most recent was The Rolling Stones in December 1997." Is that still up to date? There hasn't been a major concert there for at least 10 years? If that is false it should be updated. If it is true then it would be interesting if we could explain why this venue is no longer hosting major concerts. Paul Revere 250[edit]

I saw that you created a section on the Pepsi 400 article on the Paul Revere/Brumos Porsche 250. I have created a notice on the Pepsi 400 page that this section should be split into a new Article at Brumos Porsche 250 and a redirect to Brumos Porsche 250 made from Paul Revere 250 in keeping in line with WP:Name. I welcome your comments on the proposal talk at Talk:Pepsi_400#Paul_Revere.2FBrumos_Porsche_250_Split_Discussions. Sawblade05 (talk to me | my wiki life) 08:25, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Jim Trueman[edit]

I contested the speedy deletion and left a message to the nominator about slowing down the pace of nominating a little bit to give an author more than 2 minutes to work on an article. You should do things a little differently too. The best option is to develop an article in a user sandbox subpage before you copy it to mainspace. Here's the directions. I develop all of my articles in my sandboxes. A less popular option is to initially mark the article as {{inuse}} if you are actively editing the article, or as {{underconstruction}} if you plan to develop it over a few days. Proposed deletion of Sid Collins[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Sid Collins, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rtphokie (talk) 23:59, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mole Hill?[edit]

Hey; Did they say during the episode that Kelley was halfway up the mountain with the scales? Because it was fairly clear from the shot that you could see the base camp with the other team still at the gold table in the background as the first team reached Kelley. That was my reason for writing a "short way" up the path, or whatever I said. I thought I'd listened for whether they said where he was, but I didn't hear anything. Possible FLC[edit]

Hi Doc, hope all is well in your world. I was working with User:Royalbroil, and he mentioned the possibility of bumping up the Daytona 500 pole position winners to WP:FL status. I looked through the article, and thought it was some great work, so I (we) have been looking for the right references to go in that direction. I wanted to mention that I appreciate your work on that article, and mention that we are going to try to head in that direction. If you have any resources that would help, links or anything, we'd be happy to do the tedious work of formatting per WP:CITE and improve the rating of the article. If you'd just rather follow along, that's fine too, so you may want to put it on your watchlist. Again, thanks for all the great work you've put into the article. As always, it's great to meet another race fan. ;) — Ched :  ?  18:25, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've been coaching Ched to understand how the process works. One thing that I brought up is that I think some of the information in the article is too far off-topic, failing WP:TRIVIA. So please watch the article's talk page and give your $0.02. I know you put a lot of effort into the article and I hate suggesting removing some of the content. Obviously I won't suggest it if I didn't think it was necessary. Royalbroil 12:21, 19 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

American Championship Car winners[edit]

Is there any way to fix it, to include such stat? I had originally decided to try to include it when I had to count, by hand, where someone was located on the list, and saw that as the very definition of needing a new column. Unfortunately, lumping multiple entries together on a sortable table might be the very root of it, and I see no way to differentiate what would place one given 12-race-winner ahead of another. Year of the accomplishment of a given feat, in the famous "Foyt, Unser Sr., Mears" standard? Cordially yours from a stats freak, --Chr.K. (talk) 02:11, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Indianapolismotorspeedway2011.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. "Orlando Sentinel microfilm" reference on A Christmas Story[edit]

Here's a blast from the past: back on 14 November 2007, you edited the A Christmas Story articled and added a reference for a couple statements. The original url is totally dead but in the meantime, somebody archived the site. Unfortunately, the archive link is also useless and the desired information is not to be found there. It seems like the reference will need to be deleted as unverifiable. Yet I am curious about the ref name that you gave of "Orlando Sentinel microfilm". Did you actually use microfilm to find the listings originally? If so, perhaps the reference could be repaired to be in a better state. As it is, the reference is in danger of being deleted entirely due to link rot. Jason Quinn (talk) 03:03, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Johnnyrutherford1976.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

Replaceable fair use File:JerrySneva1979.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:JerrySneva1979.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Diannaa (talk) 01:36, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Orphan asterisk in an article[edit]

When you added the Race Schedule calendar to the 1997 Indy 500 page (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=1997_Indianapolis_500&oldid=486458446) you included a note reading "* Includes days where track activity was significantly limited due to rain", but there was no matching asterisk in the calendar or key to indicate what category of days was meant. Great work on the page otherwise, though. Best, 71.197.166.72 (talk) 20:30, 29 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Iowaspeed.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Iowaspeed.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:29, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:GordonJohncock1979.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:GordonJohncock1979.jpg.

Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:01, 2 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There's a new bonus prize of $200 worth of books of your choice to win for creating the most new women biographies between 0:00 on the 26th and 23:59 on 30th November. If you've been contributing to the contest, thank you for your support, we've produced over 2000 articles. If you haven't contributed yet, we would appreciate you taking the time to add entries to our articles achievements list by the end of the month. Thank you, and if participating, good luck with the finale!

Incredibly specific photo request[edit]

I'm currently working on the article for Austrailian-American motor racing broadcaster Leigh Diffey and the article lacks an image. I'm not sure how many IndyCar races you've been to over the years, and I'm sure it's unlikely, but would you happen to have a photo of him anywhere that we could use in his article? Thanks, --Bcschneider53 (talk) 05:59, 29 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Unser/Fittipaldi[edit]

Greetings—just a friendly disagreement with this edit. Despite what Unser Jr. says in the interview, that is clear as day not a thumbs up that he gives to Fittipaldi—more like a sarcastic gesticulation. This source supports it: "... walked to the edge of the track and gave Fittipaldi a mocking gesture of congratulations" However, there is also this source which suggests that Unser Jr.'s gestures were misinterpreted. Perhaps the article could be reworded to mention both? Mac Dreamstate (talk) 21:40, 24 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
