New name: Possibly

Formerly ThatMontrealIP. Out of curiosity I looked up the account Possibly. It turned out that the account had only made two edits, fourteen years ago. That made it possible to usurp the account. Is this new name better than the old one? Possibly.

Things I do

Wallpaper produced by Paul Balin in Paris, between 1850 and 1873.
  • Write short stub articles, mostly on women artists (see below).
  • Rescue as many artist stubs as I can, from draft or deletion. Lately I have been using this search to find promising artist stubs that are floating out in the draft–space ocean.
  • Cruise a few (undisclosed) talk pages. Some people have lively talk pages.
  • Participate in AfD discussions for artists.

Article stubs

Most of the articles listed below are very short stubs on women artists. This is a little effort to help Wikipedia's gender gap.

At some point, I noticed that Wikipedia's notability criteria (WP:ARTIST) says that a person is (likely) notable enough for an article if they are included in several museum collections. So, I went through a museum collection (the Whitney, to start) and looked to see who did not have an article and was also included in other museum collections. I use a basic template to create the stubs (name, DOB, included in x + x collections). If you have suggestions on how to improve the template, let me know on my talk page, or if you are experienced in such matters, just edit the template!

The stubs below were mostly found by searching online museum collections.

collections searched

One thing to note here is that many museums do not provide "flat lists" of their collections. The Whitney and Smithsonian did, which made it very easy to locate notable women artists!

I've seen you around a bit recently and you strike me as a very competent user all around who's done quite a bit of good work in a pretty short time period while remaining generally civil and very patient, it seems. Thanks for all the work you do and keep it up! This barnstar is well earned (and for what it's worth, I got very confused too when looking at the two Amanda's--who would have guessed that there would be two people named Amanda Brinkman with somewhat similar careers!)
