Template talk:Defunct school districts in Iowa

From Wikipedia the free encyclopedia

Why it begins in 1966 and on dissolutions[edit]

The State of Iowa's consolidation list starts at 1965-1966 officially (the first entry is 1966): https://www.educateiowa.gov/sites/files/ed/documents/District%20Reorganization%20History%20final.pdf

I presume this is because the state lacks records of prior school consolidations. WhisperToMe (talk) 03:42, 27 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Also there would be way, way, way more school consolidations pre-1966: many small districts existed in rural America but were consolidated around the 1950s and early 1960s.

Also I intentionally highlighted dissolutions with italics because many singular districts that disappeared simply merged into larger ones, rather than being dissolved and broken into pieces. WhisperToMe (talk) 18:20, 27 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
