Grizzy and the Lemmings ( known as Grizzy et les Lemmings in French ) is a French CGI[1][2] animated children's television series produced by Hari Productions [fr] (Studio Hari) and created by Antoine Rodelet and Josselin Charier for Boomerang. While being inspired by Oggy and the Cockroaches, ( which was in turn inspired by Tom and Jerry ), it was after The Owl & Co and The Jungle Bunch. As the title suggest, the show is about a Grizzly Bear named as Grizzy and a group of Lemmings. This is a silent television series and there is no dialogue in the show [3].

Premise[edit]

Set in the distant future in hilly areas, when a Forest Ranger leaves his cabin, a grizzly bear named Grizzy, has broken into the Forest ranger’s home and finds himself contending with a group of trouble-making lemmings[1][3][4][5] in a forest in Canada.[1][4] The forest and the hill on which the forest ranger's cabin is situated are very mysterious, as sometimes magical objects are found. The hill is full of magical dens. There is also a road cross the forest on which vehicles are run. When any magical thing or scientific machine is found from these dens or on the road (that was fallen from any vehicle), both the lemmings and grizzy try to get them for their own. Sometimes a normal device or thing accidentally turns into a magical or with suitable power thing (due to electric current, heat etc.). But this not occurs in all episodes. However, In the end of every episode both bear and lemmings accidentally find a bad ending for them.

Characters[edit]

Main[edit]

  • Grizzy (voiced by Pierre-Alain de Garrigues [fr][6]) – Grizzy is an anthropormorphic brown bear who has a light brown fat tummy, lives in a Forest Ranger's cabin. He is approx. 7-feet tall in height and mainly wearing the green coloured locket, which is belonged to the Forest Ranger. In the cabin he does not do anything except sleeping on Sofa, watching TV or eating Salmon Fish with Yummy XL ( a ripoff of Nutella ) . He likes watching TV programme of Salmon fishes. He does not like Opera music which is, sometimes, unexpectedly starts while changing channels. The only thing that stands in his way of luxury are the Lemmings, who give him a lot of trouble and mischief. Grizzy does not likes them but in the episode "Intensive Care" it is shown that when Lemmings gets sick, it developed a little care in the Bear's mind. He also does not like Fleas, shown in episode "Bear Itch". He does not say anything meaningful in show but he was seen reading English from a mobile phone screen. Grizzy is actually very smart or intelligent to find the solution of any situation.
  • Lemmings (voiced by Josselin Charier[6]) – They are a group of blue anthropomorphic lemmings with a light blue tummy, who also live in the Forest Ranger's cabin. Their all of group has same body shape, same height, same colour, same behaviour and same habits. Their motto is "Fun for all & All for fun!". They love having rave parties and they also eat Yummy XL like Grizzy. They love watching TV programme of cat and mouse which is shown in some episodes like in "Cartoon Bear". They can sing lullaby which has made Grizzy sleep shown in many episodes. They all also love to dance on music, which is not liked by Grizzy. They do not say anything meaningful in show but often make a sound like 'Tabodi'. While they cause a lot of chaos, their mischief is mainly targeted at Grizzy. They are not very smart or intelligent like Grizzy as shown in many episodes like in "Intensive Care", but in some episodes they are also seen smarts in madness.

Recurring[edit]

  • She – Bear – She is the Female anthropomorphic Bear a who is Grizzy's love interest. Her colour and height is same as Grizzy but she had a heart-shaped spot on her belly. In Season 2, she received a redesign, giving her a pink huge spot ( like Grizzy's ) on her belly, instead of the former heart-shaped spot. She always has takes a sun-flower on her head like a bow. She lives in the forest and loves sniffing flowers, watching butterflies and kites. She sleeps at night on a log of wood in forest. Grizzy always tries to impress her, but this always ends in disaster ( somtimes due to Lemmings also ). She has a very little interest in Grizzy and always treats his advances with skepticism due to how he continually messes things up. In the episode "Babysitting" it is shown that she has a female baby bear cub ( She-Bear Kid ) which she give to the Grizzy to babysit him for sometime. She-Bear has featured a larger role with main characters in the episode "Mind in a Whirl".
  • Other Living Organisms – There are also some other animals, birds and insects in the forest but they were not anthropomorphic like Grizzy, Lemmings and Female bear. They don't do anything like three of them and lives in forest like a real and simple animals. Both Grizzy and the Lemmings tend to use these animals for their own schemes, but usually by the end of every episode, both of them suffer from the hilarious consequences of their actions. Due to this sometimes other living organisms also caught into troubles.
    • Moose – Various Moose appears in many episodes of the show. The Lemmings use them for transport ( and sometimes Grizzy also ). Moose is fond of eating carrots. So sometimes lemmings hangs a carrot in front of his eyes to make him run to eat that. But he can eat any other thing like glass-made bottle or ring as shown in "Bear Luck" and "Clean Bear". They are incredibly passive and don't do anything apart from grazing. The colour of Mooses are mostly brown but a Black coloured Moose is shown in the episodes "A midsummer's Bear Dream" and in "Wandering Spirits". A Moose is featured in a larger role with Grizzy and Lemmings in the episode "Rainbow Moose".
    • Chicken – These dumb chicken birds are often used as a mode of transport by the Lemmings. Sometimes Grizzy also use them in many situations. They have big eyes and colour of body is half brown and half black. Sometimes a chicken becomes bigger in size due to the actions and consequences of grizzy and lemmings. A dragon chicken is shown in the episodes "A Midsummer's Bear dream" , "Timeless Bear" and "The Bear Next Door". In the show, the chickens can easily fly in the sky. They featured a larger role with bear and lemmings in the episodes "A Sizeable Problem" and "Call of the Bear".
    • Frog – Frogs are generally shown eating flies. In the show the tounge of frogs are long in size. A frog is featured larger role with main characters in the episode "Bear Charm".
    • Fly – Flies are generally shown being eaten by Frogs. A fly is featured larger role with main characters in the episode "Yummy Fly".
    • Butterfly – There are also butterflies in the forest. Generally they seen in colors Blue, pink or yellow. The Female bear loves them. Butterfly are small in size but a big butterfly is shown in episode "Timeless Bear", "The Bear Next Door" and "The Bear And The Butterfly"( in this episode butterfly has featured larger role with main characters ).
    • Raccoon – The raccoons on the show are dirty and often rummage in trash and eat garbage. Their nose is very fast like a dog. A raccoon has featured a larger role with main cast in the episodes "Bear's Best friend", "Sniffer Raccoon" and "Masked Raccoon".
    • Bat – Bats in the show, are rarely seens. Bats featured larger role with Grizzy and Lemmings in the episode "Batgrizzy"( in this episode, it is shown that they do not like that anyone control them for their own ).
    • Spider – Spiders are also very rarely seen. Their colour are mainly black. Grizzy has a fear of spiders, shown in the episode "Spider Lemmings".
    • Tyrannosaurus Rex – A T-rex (Dinosaurs) is unfrozen from a block of ice in "Jurassic Bear" (in red and green colour) and also appears in episodes "Timeless Bear", "The Bear Next Door" (in lime-green colour) and "Ancestral Bear".
  • The Forest Ranger – The Forest Ranger never appears in person. He only appears in the intro (Show opening) and in the episode "As Far As Bear Can Remember" in flashback. He is the man who leaves his cabin in forest where the bear and lemmings were lived. In some episodes his poster and photos are shown. He is the only human character in the show.
