Paul Goma (Romanian pronunciation: [ˈpa.ul ˈɡoma]; October 2, 1935 – March 25, 2020) was a Romanian-Moldovan writer and political critic. He was known for his activities as a dissident and leading opponent of the communist regime before 1989. After 2000, Goma has expressed opinions on World War II, the Holocaust in Romania and the Jews, claims which have led to widespread criticism for antisemitism.[1][2]
On March 18, 2020, Goma was hospitalized in Paris after being infected with COVID-19. He died on March 25, 2020 from the infection, aged 84.[3]
