Turner Diaries Cover[edit]

Hi, I'm looking for a first edition of the Turner Diaries and was wondering where you got the image of the first edition cover you put on the Turner Diaries page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dleve (talkcontribs) 21:51, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Category:People from South Stoneham[edit]

Hi. I see that you have created and populated this category. It is probably misleading to say that many of these people were actually from South Stoneham as we know it today, which is a fairly small part of the present city of Southampton. For many years from the late 18th to early 20th centuries, South Stoneham was the name of the registration district which covered all of the then town of Southampton and the surrounding area. If you were to obtain their birth certificates, you would probably find that many of these people were actually born in other districts of the city. According to "All the Saints", Bill Charlton was actually born near Eastleigh and Arthur Dominey was born at Woolston. Best wishes. Daemonickangaroo2018 (talk) 14:48, 8 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I am dyslexic. "rot rirles" means "for titles" The rule I was (mistakenly) thinking about is WP:DABLINK. But it seems it does not cover the case of disambiguating "XXX (yyy)" vs "XXX (zzz)" and {{for}} says nothing either. Also, after some thinking I agree that your hatnote is useful because it makes sense a person looks for a novel, but the page Eden (disambiguation) is unwieldy. So I am self-revertinj. Lembit Staan (talk) 23:23, 2 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Links to disambiguation pages in hatnotes[edit]

Hi. I noticed a few of your edits, such as this one, where you removed a link to a "(disambiguation)" redirect in a hatnote. These are very necessary however, as described at WP:INTDAB. Would you mind reverting the other edits where you did this, and maybe also add the "(disambiguation)" part to new hatnotes you've added recently, such as here? Both Exodus and Against All Odds made it to the top 50 of the Disambiguation pages with links report, and fixing links like these on top of all the other links that need to be fixed takes a considerable amount of time and effort for editors like myself.

Also, per WP:NOTAMB, non-ambiguous titles don't actually need a hatnote at all. But this guideline is apparently not commonly adhered to these days and I guess those hatnotes don't really hurt, either, so whether to follow that one I'll leave up to you. An interesting chain of events[edit]

Thanks for this edit. I was the one who erroneously changed the caption to "Fourth edition" there, but I am very familiar with the covers of the different editions, and after looking at the history of the page and the image, I suspect what happened is that I visited the page, then shortly afterward you changed the image and the caption to the first edition, and then I visited the page soon after that change but the original image of the fourth edition was still in my browser cache, so I changed the caption to "Fourth edition" to match what I was seeing in my browser, since I didn't see that you had updated the image.
