Hey, can you please help me here[edit]
So I’m very new to Wikipedia and it seems that almost everytime I add a source for something it gets removed instantly which is very annoying since I’m not really good at coding in the first place, it’s taken me 3 hours to add a correctly coded reliable source and it left me just with the link to add since I can’t be bothered, it’s really stressful and no one seems to wanna help me out so maybe you can? You seem nice Pomniismywife (talk) 09:29, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hey there; so, I should probably warn you that I'm not much of a 'people person', but I'll try to help, though you might consider checking out the WP:TEAROOM, where there's folks who may be better situated to help you. Either way, Welcome to Wikipedia! Could you provide a diff or two that I might look at, or at least the names of the articles where you believe your sourced additions have been removed? You may want to read WP:RS if you haven't already; is it possible that the sources you added weren't really reliable sources (for instance, IMDb, TVTropes, sites where people can freely add their own content, other wikis, and Wikipedia articles are not reliable sources for various reasons)? I don't think there's much more I can say at this time, without being able to review your edits, but I'm happy to try to help, and I wish you a good editing experience either way! - Hey again, sorry for that mess of a comment btw, I have autism and I was already stressed as it was lmao but I’m ok now, I’ll definitely look into the link you sent me though, btw I had used a source from allmovie but I could only apply the link and not anything else (such as the date, archive link, and the ref name I think) thanks for welcoming me too Pomniismywife (talk) 05:36, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- You're welcome! AllMovie should be okay as a source, though I'm not objectively sure of its reliability and there may be some editors who will take issue with it. It's weird that you could only add the link without the other information...at worst you should be able to add it manually. I'm not sure there's much else I could say without seeing an example, but happy editing! DonIago (talk) 13:32, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- So I was editing a piece on the film ‘split’ because someone had put the release date as 2017 when the film actually had its first release on 2016 at the fantastic fest festival so I had changed it but added ‘the film was released on 2015) by accident so I tried to redo the vision and then it went back to 2017, people are gonna think I’m sabotaging arcticles when realistically I don’t know wtf I’m doing, it’s so stressful Pomniismywife (talk) 02:28, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
- What’s even worse is that my failed edits are literally public for everyone to see which is not fair because you see how I literally am trying to fix one simple error and I can’t even do that without screwing it up twice Pomniismywife (talk) 02:30, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
- I think if you find yourself in a situation like that then the best thing you can do is leave a note at the article's Talk page explaining the situation. If people still have a problem with it...well, at least you tried.
- But if you're regularly having issues editing, you might take a look at Help:Introduction and go from there. The fact that you're writing at my Talk page suggests some of it may be stuff you already know, but you might pick up skills along the way that will help prevent you from continuing to make the mistakes that are holding you back.
- In the end though, the most important piece of advice I can give you is to review your changes and not publish them until you're sure you're doing what you intend to be doing. Hope this helps! DonIago (talk) 03:03, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
- But I didn’t mean to since I pressed the enter button by accident, if I get reported because of this minor mistake then Wikipedia really is full of snowflakes Pomniismywife (talk) 03:58, 26 May 2024 (UTC)

The Sundance Woman[edit]
Hi there. Regarding this explanation of your revert of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, you may want to take a look at Etta Place, where the same source is cited regarding the same movie, as mentioned in the original edit summary. —151.132.206.250 (talk) 16:39, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
- I've removed the IMDb citation there. IMDb isn't a reliable source in the first place, and certainly not one that satisfies WP:IPCV. DonIago (talk) 16:45, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
- That’s fair. Thanks for following up!
Edit: I think you edited the wrong line, though. I’ll take care of it. —151.132.206.250 (talk) 16:51, 4 June 2024 (UTC)

The Bridge on the River Kwai[edit]
Hello,
If you were to watch the film, you could see that the five names which I recently added to the Cast listing section of The Bridge on the River Kwai article all appear in the on screen credits. Additionally, all of these names are also listed in the credits section for the film on the TCM website. I therefore do not understand which logic was employed in making the decision to revert my edit. Can you please clarify this for me.
Thank you. Observer1632 (talk) 15:00, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
- Please see WP:FILMCAST; the Cast section shouldn't be used to list every individual who appears in the film. DonIago (talk) 15:05, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
- I never add someone to a Cast listing simply because that individual "appears in a film"; in particular, I do not add uncredited roles. But are you saying that if someone's actual name is included in the on screen credits at the start of a film, that is not 'good enough' for that person to have a place in the Cast listing of the associated Wikipedia article? Observer1632 (talk) 15:15, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
- Did Bridge even include end credits for the Cast? It's a matter of due weight; if the opening credits list the majority of actors in the film, then appearing in them says less about the actor/role's significance than if the opening credits list four people but the closing credits list 200 people. But the fact that the roles aren't even named isn't encouraging to me as an indicator of their significance. Of course, you're welcome to ask about this at the article's Talk page as well. DonIago (talk) 15:19, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
- With regards to your question, I just went to check and the film does have end credits; that is where the role of Ann Sears is identified as being "Nurse" and the other four individuals are listed as "Siamese Girls". Again, all five ladies also appear in the on screen credits at the start of the film.
- I wish you a good rest of your day. Observer1632 (talk) 15:45, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
