클로드 질로(프랑스어: Claude Gillot, 1673년 4월 27일~1722년 5월 4일)는 프랑스의 화가, 판화가, 삽화가로, 앙투안 바토와 니콜라 랑크레의 스승으로 잘 알려져 있다.
생애
[편집]클로드 질로는 1673년 랑그르에서 태어났다.[1] 그는 화가, 조각가, 책 삽화가, 금속공예가, 극장 디자이너였다. 1691-93년경 파리로 가서 화가 장바티스트 코르네유에게 장식을 배웠다. 그는 1703년부터 1708년까지 앙투안 바토를 견습생으로 두었다.
질로의 명랑한 신화적 풍경화 작품으로는 《판의 향연》, 《바쿠스의 향연》 등이 있으며, 이 작품으로 1715년 파리 미술 아카데미에 입학하게 되었다. 이후 그는 자신의 예술을 당시 유행하는 취향에 맞게 변형하여 화려한 페트 샹페트르를 선보였는데, 나중에는 제자들에게 뒤처졌지만 질로의 작품에는 대체로 바토의 당대적 복장을 볼 수가 없다. 그의 그림에는 종종 콤메디아 델라르테의 등장인물이 등장하는데, 이러한 취향은 그가 바토에게 물려준 것이다. 질로는 또한 무대장치와 의상 디자이너로서 오페라와 극장과 긴밀한 관계를 맺었다.[2] 그는 1722년 49세의 나이로 파리에서 사망했다.
