解説Port Elizabeth Donkin reserve launch of route 67.JPG
English: at one time the pride of the city, Donkin Reserve fell prey to the urban decay and crime that has plagued the old historic Central area in recent times. However it has now undergone a major face lift, and security upgrade, and is once again a place the city can enjoy and be proud of. Key to this has been route 67, a project designed to link the campanile to the Donkin, and from there up Belmont Terrace to the Athenaeum and up Bird Street, using 67 public art works to describe the long walk to freedom of Nelson Mandela, and honour the 67 years of his life which he gave to liberate this country. This photo shows the zig zag path made to repesent the long winding queues of voters who turned up to vote in our first free elections in 1994. it was taken from the top of the Donkin lighthouse, during the launch of route 67
