Question on how to obtain information from pages 286 and 287 from the 1971 book "日本人メキシコ移住史"[編集]

@Zerabat: Dear JAwiki users, I am highly interested in obtaining Nihon-jin mekishiko ijūshi (日本人メキシコ移住史; "The History of the Japanese Immigrants in Mexico") by Minoru Izawa. The citation here:

  • "Minoru, Izawa〔ママ〕, Nihon-jin mekishiko ijushi (The History of the Japanese Immigrants in Mexico). Tokyo: 1971."

Page 225 of the same book says the info is in pages 286 and 287.

The claim in question sourced to this book is:

  • "However, one Japanese source estimates that roughly 80 percent of the Japanese were forcibly relocated to Mexico City with the largest coming from Baja California.11"

Thank you, WhisperToMe会話) 2019年8月20日 (火) 01:36 (UTC)

CiNii had the record here: https://ci.nii.ac.jp/ncid/BN06398903 specifying the title as "日本人メキシコ移住史" (published 1971), attributed to 日本人メキシコ移住史編纂委員会.

I'd really appreciate it if someone figures out how to find this.

@WhisperToMe: I found Tokyo Metropolitan Library had it. Tokyo Metropolitan Library offers reference services by letters or email.
Thanks for the info! I do not know if it is in the "Special Literature Archives" - if not, I may have to call the library via Skype.

Update! I visited Tokyo in person and went to the Metropolitan Library; I much appreciate the work the staff did in helping me find the source! The Izawa source verifies that Japanese were sent to Mexico City and Guadalajara, but I could not verify the 80% figure. I e-mailed Jerry García (author of Looking Like the Enemy: Japanese Mexicans, the Mexican State, and US Hegemony, 1897-1945 which cites Izawa and gives the 80% figure, saying that Izawa came up with it) and asked him if maybe there's something I am missing... Factcheck request, clothing[編集]

These files are based on costume research for a play set in historical Japan. I am no expert on this subject. I would really appreciate anyone checking both images and captions for accuracy.

I first posted on the English-language Wikiproject Japan talk page, but just found this useful page. Many thanks for any improvements, or suggestions for improvements.

Question about published secondary sources about Holp Shuppan[編集]

Hi! I was asked to find additional published secondary sources about en:Holp Shuppan (en:Talk:Holp Shuppan), a longtime Japanese publisher. My understanding is that most of these sources are in Japanese, so I would appreciate it if someone could find good secondary sources about it.

Infobox image syntax[編集]

Is there an Japanese Wikipedia equivalent to English Wikipedia's en:WP:THUMBSIZE or en:WP:IBI page? On English Wikipedia it's pretty much common practice not to use the thumbnail syntax for infobox images because the most infobox templates and the Wikipedia software will automatically format the size of the infobox image based upon the device the reader is using. In addition, it also makes it easier for screen reader to "read" to infobox image's caption when the caption parameter is used because a thumbnail image typically requires an "alt_text" parameter be provided for thumbnail images whereas the infobox caption parameter doesn't and can be read by screen readers. Maybe the software and templates used for Japanese Wikipedia work differently, however, based upon this post here. Anyway, just curious for my own benefit.

secondary independent sources[編集]

@WhisperToMe: Hey I have been told to have secondary independent sources for my article "Water and Land Niigata Art Festival". Could you please help me find sources written in Japanese to improve notability? Thank you. en:Water and Land Niigata Art Festival MalloMallo会話) 2019年11月23日 (土) 10:00 (UTC)

@MalloMallo: I got good news for you! I found a scholarly English language source about the festival!
If you want access, ask en:Wikipedia:RX
Having said that, I think it's still good to find some scholarly Japanese sources too.

Request for translation help[編集]

Hello, Last week was a Holodomor ホロドモール commemoration week. I am currently looking for people who could be willing to translate into Japanese articles about people who spread information about the famine in 1933, e.g. en:Alexander Wienerberger, en:Gareth Jones Journalist) or en:Ewald Ammende? P.S. I am not active on the Japanese Wikipedia, unfortunately, but I created quite a lot of articles in the Russian, Ukrainian, English and German versions. If you can help, I will be glad to do something in return. Thank you.

Request for sourcing help[編集]

Hello. Regarding the Japanese article for Project Sakura Wars (新サクラ大戦), some spoilers to the game were added (especially with regards to the villain's true identity). While I wasn't involved in the recent situation, it was recently reverted as per this notification from Sega. I'm also concerned about finding sources for the game itself (i.e. video game scenes, online sources, etc.). Can you help?
