レターメン（The Lettermen）は、アメリカ合衆国の男性ポップス・ヴォーカル・トリオである。1960年代を中心にクローズ・ハーモニーによるカバー曲を多数ヒットさせた。日本ではボビー・ヴィントンのカバー『ミスター・ロンリー』やブライアン・ハイランドのカバー『涙のくちづけ』、ジョン・レノンのカバー『ラヴ』がオリジナルを凌ぐヒットを記録した。

略歴[編集]

1958年に結成され、メンバーチェンジを経た1959年にワーナー・ブラザース・レコードからメジャーデビューをする^[1]。

1961年、キャピトル・レコーズに移籍して発表したフレッド・アステアのカバー『今宵の君は』が全米13位、ドリス・デイのカバー『恋に落ちた時』が全米7位を記録する。

1965年『夏の日の恋』が全米16位を記録。B面の『涙のくちづけ』"Sealed with a kiss"は日本では1969年にA面として発売され人気を博した。

1967年、リトル・アンソニー＆ジ・インペリアルズ（英語版）とフランキー・ヴァリのカバーメドレー『君に夢中（英語版）/君の瞳に恋してる（愛するあなたに）』が全米7位を記録する。

2001年、オリジナルメンバーの トニー・ブターラ（英語版）が1998年に設立したボーカルグループの殿堂（Vocal Group Hall of Fame（英語版））の殿堂入りグループに選定される。

2012年、ラジオ番組製作者のジョン・ルック（英語版）が2006年に設立したヒットパレードの殿堂（Hit Parade Hall of Fame）の殿堂入り歌手に選定される。
