ポール・ハードキャッスル（Paul Hardcastle、1957年12月10日 - ）は、イギリスの作曲家、ミュージシャン、レコード・プロデューサー、ソングライター、ラジオ・プレゼンター、マルチプレイヤー。
作風は主にシンセサイザーとプログラミングだが、数多くの楽器も演奏している。代表曲の「19」（「ナインティーン」、1985年、全英シングルチャート1位）で知られている。
略歴[編集]
ポール・ハードキャッスルは、1984年にリリースしたインストダンス曲「Rain Forest」やそのカップリング曲「Sound Chaser」がダンスチャート2位にランクされるなど初期のシングルでいくつかの成功を収めた。[1]「Rain Forest」はアメリカのビルボード誌のソウルチャートで5位、Billboard Hot 100ポップチャートでも57位にランクされた。[2]
最大のヒット曲は1985年リリースの「19」で、全英シングルチャートで5週間1位、また世界の多くの国でもヒットし、アメリカではHot 100ポップチャートで15位、ダンス＆クラブ・チャートで1位を獲得した。続く「Just for Money」もヨーロッパ各国でヒットし、全英シングルチャートでも19位にランクされた。[3]
1985年の終わり頃、ヘヴン17の「Temptation」でボーカルをつとめた歌手のキャロル・ケニオンとチームを組み、「Don't Waste Your Time」をリリース、翌1986年に全英で8位にランクされた。同年、シングル「The Wizard」をリリース、これは同年から1991年までBBCの音楽番組トップ・オブ・ザ・ポップスのテーマ曲に起用された。同年、日系3世のインスト・バンド ヒロシマがリリースした「One Wish」をリミックスしてリリースしている。[4]
この年、1984年末のバンド・エイド「Do They Know It's Christmas?」や翌1985年のUSAフォー・アフリカ「We Are The World」のチャリティーイベントの成功に触発されたイギリスのDJ、Steve Walsh からの依頼で多発性硬化症研究支援のためのチャリティー企画ディスコ・エイドに参加、「Give Give Give」をプロデュースしたが興行的には成功しなかった（翌1987年、ストック・エイトキン・ウォーターマンの再プロデュースでダンス・エイド名義で再リリースされ、全英85位）。
やがて、スムーズ・ジャズのアルバムを多く手がけるようになり、ジャッキー・グラハムとコラボレーションし「Kiss The Sky」「The Jazzmasters」名義で、また本名の「Hardcastle」名義で交互にシリーズ・アルバムをリリースしている。[5]。2011年には「Easy Come, Easy Go」が全米ジャズチャートで1位を獲得した。アルバムでは自身の曲をイビザ島のクラブをイメージしたチルアウトリミックスを多く手がけている。

既婚であり、娘のマキシン（1986年4月生まれ[6][7]）、息子のポールJr.（1990年8月生まれ[8]）を含む3人の子供がいる。[9]
