クシュワント・シン（英語: Khushwant Singh、1915年2月2日 - 2014年3月20日）は、インドの作家。英語で著述活動を行い、歴史書や小説を発表している。

略歴[編集]

ラホール近郊にあるハダーリ村（現在はパキスタン領）のシーク教徒の家庭に生まれる。ラホールの公立学校を卒業後にケンブリッジ大学やインナー・テンプルで教育を受ける。卒業後にラホール高等裁判所で判事を務め、1947年のインド・パキスタン分離独立の後はインド外務省に勤める。1951年にはジャーナリストとなり、新聞社の編集長やインド国民会議の議員を歴任する。1974年にインド政府からパドマ・ブーシャン賞 (Padma Bhushan) の叙勲を受けたが、1984年にアムリトサルの黄金寺院事件に抗議して返却した。のちに2007年には、より高位のパドマ・ヴィブーシャン賞 (Padma Vibhushan) を授与された。

歴史家としては『シーク民族の歴史』が有名である。小説では数十冊を発表し、25年以上の研究成果をもとにした長編『首都デリー』や、『パキスタン行きの列車』、『女性のお仲間』などの作品がある。その他、時事問題のノンフィクションや翻訳書も執筆している。シーク教徒であるが、自らについて不可知論者であるとも語っている。
