アーレンド・レイプハルト

アーレンド・レイプハルト（Arend Lijphart、1936年8月17日 - ）は、アメリカの政治学者。オランダ・アペルドールン生まれ。

1963年にエール大学で政治学博士を取得。カリフォルニア大学バークレー校助教授などを経て、現在カリフォルニア大学サンディエゴ校名誉教授。1989年にアメリカ芸術科学アカデミーの会員に選ばれ、1995年から1996年まではアメリカ政治学会会長を歴任した。

レイプハルトの業績は、

  • 分裂社会における多極共存型民主主義モデル
  • 比較選挙制度論
  • 比較民主主義体制論

に大別できる。二大政党制、小選挙区制によって特徴づけられる多数決型民主主義(majoritarian democracy)もしくはウェストミンスター型民主主義のモデルに対して、コンセンサス型、多極共存型民主主義モデルを対峙させた、自由民主主義政治体制の比較研究を主張。
