Film sudcoreani proposti per l'Oscar al miglior film straniero

Nel corso degli anni, nessun film sudocreano è stato candidato al Premio Oscar nella categoria miglior film straniero.

Nell'edizione 2019 è stato proposto per la terza volta un film di Lee Chang-dong, Burning: per la prima volta un film sudcoreano ha superato la prima selezione, ma non è arrivato ad essere selezionato per cinquina finale.

L'anno successivo Parasite di Bong Joon-ho è stato non solo il primo film sudcoreano ad essere nominato e a vincere nella categoria di Miglior film straniero ma anche il primo film non in lingua inglese ad imporsi come miglior film, oltre a vincere altri due Oscar (regia e sceneggiatura originale) su sei nomination complessive.

Per quattro volte sono stati selezionati film di Shin Sang-ok, le prime tre negli anni sessanta e l'ultima nel 1991.
