| Description | English: The zeolite crystals grown on the ground, left, are smaller than ones grown in space, right. If larger, more perfect crystals can be grown, researchers learn more about the way zeolites are made. This information might be used to improve petroleum processing and reduce costs and pollution. The Center for Advanced Microgravity Materials Processing at Northeastern University in Boston -- a NASA Commercial Space Center -- is working with industry to grow larger, more perfect crystals aboard the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station — the first permanent, space laboratory. This research is part of the Space Product Development Program managed at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala.
