Request for input on merge proposal[edit]
I have made a proposal that Marxism-Leninism-Maoism be merged into Maoism.
Currently, I've only received feedback from three other people, one pro merge, two against. Only one of those against the merge has given significant feedback and currently I think the discussion is at an impasse. This is so as neither of us have budged from our original positions and the person has stated that they no longer wish to restate their arguments. So, in the interest of not tagging them when they feel that they have said all that they can say, I hope someone here can help tip the scales either way.
The discussion page is here: Talk:Maoism#Merge proposal
My argument could be summarised as the following:
- Modern groups and individuals who refer to themselves as 'Maoists' tend to use the terms 'Mao Zedong Thought', 'Maoism' and 'Marxism-Leninism-Maoism' interchangeably. This is not limited to the west.
- The only sources that have been provided that describe a difference between 'Maoism' and 'Marxism-Leninism-Maoism' are quite old.
- What differences there are with modern Maoism and 'the thought of Mao Zedong' are minimal at best (imo) and (imo) these differences are vague and often border on sophistry.
- Currently, nearly everything covered by Marxism-Leninism-Maoism is covered in Maoism, and Maoism covers a greater range of content. I'd argue this is due to the two terms being largely interchangeable, not due to editors getting things wrong.
The argument against merging (obviously I'm biased here so please read the discussion yourself):
- Maoism and Marxism-Leninism-Maoism are different, the former meaning 'the thought of Mao Zedong' and the latter being an ideology developed after the death of Mao.
- Currently, the article on 'Maoism' is actually about 'Mao Zedong Thought' and the article on 'Marxism-Leninism-Maoism' is low quality but could be developed to include information which would differentiate it from 'Maoism'.

Dahua Technology's minority state ownership[edit]
Please see Talk:Dahua Technology#Incorrect terminology in infobox and lead - Additional input requested from editors on how to refer to a Chinese company with 11.67% state ownership. This has been a two-party dispute, in which I offered a third opinion, but both parties think additional voices would help settle the question. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 09:26, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
FAR for Emmy Noether[edit]
I have nominated Emmy Noether for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets the featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" in regards to the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Z1720 (talk) 20:32, 15 January 2024 (UTC)

Revolutionary Communist Party (UK, 1944) needs rescuing[edit]
Unfortunately, much of Revolutionary Communist Party (UK, 1944) has been deleted for being unsourced[1]. Would editors here be able to find sources for the material and restore it with citations (and/or ask other editors familiar with the topic to do so)? Wellington Bay (talk) 13:58, 8 March 2024 (UTC)
Discussion regarding Mikhail Kalinin and the Katyn massacre[edit]
Hello,
There's a new discussion regarding whether the inclusion of his co-signing of the order for the Katyn massacre in the lead is WP:UNDUE, and/or whether the claim that he held significant responsibility for the massacre is WP:OR or not. Any community input would be appreciated! The Kip 02:20, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
Gauging interest in a broader tenant rights and history group[edit]
Hi! I'm LoomCreek and a member of the New York Housing and Tenant Rights Task Force where we've been documenting the history of land ownership and tenant advocacy in the state and city.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Sociologist and I want to gauge interest in creating a larger task force for worldwide history and/or more regionally specific ones. If interested, please add your username to sandbox/Housing and Tenant Rights, let us know about what your interests are and whether you'd prefer a regional task force, a world-wide wikiproject, or both. In a couple weeks we'll start creating them based on requests (5+ for a regional task force, 10+ for a wikiproject). Best regards, LoomCreek (talk) 17:21, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
