Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. I just saw your note as I was away from WP. I'd deleted the article as an outcome of the ANI, the user had been copying content from within WP and outside WP without paraphrasing or attribution, some of it directly lifted from external sources. Most of the content in the articles were placed in multiple locations so it was quite difficult to figure out what was original and what was copied etc. I can email you the content if you wish to check it for copyvio and for the attribution trail (as a lot of this is CC-BY content and needs attribution, but the user did not provide that). Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most geography, wildlife and women articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 55 African countries, so should be enjoyable! Hello. I strongly apologise to bother you, but if you do not mind, I would like to ask a question regarding the article Transposable element. I believe it should include some information on the so-called Class III TEs (see: Pierre Capy et al., Dynamics and Evolution of Transposable Elements, 1998).

• E.g. some papers refer to MITEs as Class III: Multigenome analysis implicates miniature inverted-repeat transposable elements (MITEs) in metabolic diversification in eudicots.
• Another example may be Foldback (FB) elements, see e.g.: The transposable elements of the Drosophila melanogaster euchromatin: a genomics perspective.
• John Baez (2017) described Class III TEs as a grab-bag consisting of transposons that don't clearly fit into the other two categories, and added: Examples include the "Foldback" elements in fruit flies, the "Tu" elements in sea urchins, and "MITEs", or "miniature inverted repeat transposable elements", which are found mainly in plants and fungi.

Hey Pino, thanks for the kind words! I took a quick look at the papers you posted here and also at the discussion on your talk page, and it seems to me that class III transposons are not very clearly defined; different research groups seem to use the term differently. Since I am not an expert on transposons, I am afraid I cannot contribute much more than has already been said. If no widely accepted definition exists, I suggest we mention this in the article and cite the papers that use the term as references. What do you think? Thank you for the reply, I appreciate it. Yes, I agree with you. Perhaps, at least for now, two or three sentences would be sufficient? It seems reasonable to just define class III TEs and give the examples (Foldbacks, TU elements, MITEs), I believe. I must admit I have difficulty with the correct wording of this paragraph so that it is acceptable according to Wikipedia standards. If you find some time to add it, e.g. at the end of the Classification section, I will be very grateful. What are your thoughts? PS. Regarding further edits on the subject, it may even be possible to create a separate article in the future, thanks to the efforts of TobyBrann who is an expert in the field of transposons. Hello - my name is Susan Gerbic (Sgerbic) and I'm writing to you because at some point you joined Wikipedia:WikiProject Skepticism. This might have been months ago - or even years ago. With the best of intentions the project was created years ago, and sadly like many WikiProjects has started to go dormant. A group of us are attempting to revitalize the Skepticism project, already we have begun to clean up the main page and I've just redone the participant page. No one is in charge of this project, it is member directed, which might have been the reason it almost went dormant. We are attempting to bring back conversations on the talk page and have two subprojects as well, in the hopes that it might spark involvement and a way of getting to know each other better. One was created several years ago but is very well organized and a lot of progress was made, Wikipedia:WikiProject Skepticism/Skeptical organisations in Europe. The other I created a couple weeks ago, it is very simple and has a silly name Wikipedia:WikiProject Skepticism/Skepticism Stub Sub-Project Project (SSSPP). This sub-project runs from March 1 to June 1, 2022. We are attempting to rewrite skepticism stubs and add them to this list. As you can see we have already made progress.

The reason I'm writing to you now is because we would love to have you come back to the project and become involved, either by working on one of the sub-projects, proposing your own (and managing it), or just hanging out on the talk page getting to know the other editors and maybe donate some of your wisdom to some of the conversations. As I said, no one is in charge, so if you have something in mind you would like to see done, please suggest it on the talk page and hopefully others will agree. Please add the project to your watchlist, update your personal user page showing you are a proud member of WikiProject Skepticism. And DIVE in, this is what the work list looks like [1] frightening at first glance, but we have already started chipping away at it.

Thank you, that is very kind of you. I am a biologist/biochemist myself and wrote that article when I was a PhD student working in the lab. Douncers were among the tools we used, so I wondered where that name came from and who invented them but found nothing on Wikipedia. With spare time between experiments and access to our campus library, I did some literature research myself and wrote the article. I am happy that you like it!

Since you are a relative of Alexander Dounce, may I ask if you have a good photo of him that you could upload to Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons? The one that I added to the article is fairly low-res, but it was the only one I could find.
