Internal links[edit]

I noticed on some of your recent edits, that you are using unnecessary underscores on internal links (such as Portuguese, when you should use Portuguese.) Deleting images in Wikipedia[edit]

Although it is recommended that you be careful not to make any errors when uploading images, mistakes sometimes happen. If you would like to have an image you uploaded deleted, the best thing to do is to add db-author to that image and it will automatically be listed for speedy deletion. Problem with image[edit]

OK, I have no idea what was going wrong with that image, but I've uploaded it here now: Image:Nero Burning ROM screenshot2.png. Cheers, JACOPLANE • 2008-03-28 13:32

Screenshot themes[edit]

I have replaced your image at Image:Transmission_screenshot_ubuntu.png with one using the GNOME default Clearlooks theme. I think that having the default Ubuntu theme is wrong as Ubuntu != FOSS. Also mine is of a later version of Transmission (in fact a SVN version). bruce89 (talk) 00:22, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pages moves[edit]

Hello. I was just wondering why you are moving lots of Linux distribution pages? I noticed you moved the Ubuntu page recently, and have just moved the Fedora page, but I can see no actual reason for you doing this? ~~ [Jam][talk] 14:24, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've replied on my talk page. ~~ [Jam][talk] 16:40, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ubuntu-restricted-extras merger[edit]

Greetings,

I have merged the ubuntu-restricted-extras page into the main Ubuntu page under the heading Availability of Proprietary Software. The content presnted is insufficient for its own article page, lacking both sufficient volume and notability. Latiligence (talk) 17:00, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Forgot to mention: links to ubuntu-restricted-extras have all been updated as well. Latiligence (talk) 17:01, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Ad-aware 2007 screenshot.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ad-aware 2007 screenshot.png. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

 • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
 • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --06:02, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem and history now merged to this page here. With the 'author request' tag i just didn't realize that this was intended as housekeeping deletion for a history merge. Hi, I see you have moved Karaboudjan to Karaboudjan (band). I disagree with this move, since there is no article about Karaboudjan being anything other than a band, and that the shorter title should be used if possible. Would you be willing to give your explanation? Thanks in advance, Zouavman Le Zouave 17:32, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, sorry for time I took to reply to your message... Regarding the change of the name in the article I changed it because I was considering to create an article about Karaboudjan, the ship from the adventures of Tintin, so I changed pre-emptively, to make the article "Karaboudjan" a disambiguation page or about the ship from tintin... If you really disagree with that you can change it back, no problem at all since there is no article about the ship yet. SF007 (talk) 01:04, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh okay, if you're planning on creating an article about the ship, then no worries. :) Good luck! Zouavman Le Zouave 07:19, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, then I'm glad you asked and didn't just reverted my move without even considereing the reasons why I moved it. Thanks ;) SF007 (talk) 18:15, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
^^ This is what I generally tend to do (apart from vandalism of course, but your move was clearly good faith). If you need any help on this article, I have the whole Tintin collection, it might help. ;) Zouavman Le Zouave 19:14, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

lego digital designer[edit]

Hey, I was wondering how you managed to get LDD to work with Vista... I've been trying and trying all day and I just can't manage to get it to work. It always comes up with the error that it cannot open and must be closed. Thanks Banana Girl (talk) 02:10, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, first of all, sorry for the very late reply, regarding Lego Digital Designer: I simply downloaded and installed the software! :) I had no problem at all, I installed it on Windows XP, Vista RTM, and Vista SP1, it worked fine everytime, it must be a problem with your software or Hardware... Note that you need Quick Time installed... Can you at least install it? you can try to extract the files from the installer with WinRAR, since the setup.exe is just a self-extracting zip file... and then try to install it... maybe some files of your windows installation are corrupted or something... You can also try a portable version I made (with VMware Project North Star), it should work on Vista RTM or SP1, here is the link:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/oj1oh7
Oh, and of course I did not put any virus or things like that in it, but you should be carefull and always have a good and up to date antivirus, if you have any problems or something, feel free to ask ;) SF007 (talk) 18:44, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Actually, i feel kinda bad now... I had tried LDD LeoCad and other types of programs and NONE would work. I gave up and reset my computer for a service pack and it worked! All of them!!! Thanks for your help anyway! That portable one may come in handy though;... Banana Girl (talk) 02:36, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Ad-aware 2007 screenshot.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ad-aware 2007 screenshot.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. VMware ThinApp[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at talk:VMware ThinApp, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Socrates2008 (Talk) 07:16, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, sorry about that, but you wrote "ThinInstall" in the talk page, and there is no such thing as "ThinInstall", the previous product was "Thinstall" and the current product is "ThinApp", that's why I fixed it... I really don't like wrong info, that's just it... Please accept my apologies for editing your talk page entry, it was with a good intention... If you want to keep that, no problem, I will not fix it again... but like I said, my only intention was to fix a wrong information... SF007 (talk) 10:12, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No problem at all. However you will note that I've reverted some of the places you've added the screenshot of the setup program as this image does not appear to illustrate anything in the articles - indeed, the sheer number of articles you linked this image into makes your edits appear promotional. Socrates2008 (Talk) 10:19, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
yeah, I suppose maybe I got a little too enthusiastic about VMware ThinApp... it's just that I find it such a wonderful piece of software I just want people to learn about it... I know it may sound "propaganda" or something like that but I have nothing to do with VMware (appart from using some of their products...). SF007 (talk) 10:25, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK. However you may want to take a look at WP:SOAP and WP:NPOV so you don't have other editors on your case about this again. Socrates2008 (Talk) 10:47, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Would it be possible for you to take another screenshot of Firefox in vista, but with this official add-on? Don't replace the original image, because it's not a replacement. Image source problem with Image:Safari (web browser).png[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Safari (web browser).png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:18, 14 June 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BJTalk 12:18, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Image:Safari (web browser).png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image with an unknown source or an unknown copyright status which has been tagged as such for more than 7 days, and it still lacks the necessary information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Safari (web browser).png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. BJTalk 12:19, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Links[edit]

Hi, I'm replying here to your message at m:User talk:COIBot/XWiki/hacktolive.org. First of all, we're not questioning your work or qualifying you as a spammer. The bot simply detects if one user or IP address is adding a certain link to multiple projects. In most cases that'll be spam, but of course there are exceptions. This is one of them. Therefore, I deleted the reports from meta. I'm not a sysop here, so I can't delete the report here. Feel free to nominate it for speedy deletion. --Erwin85 (talk) 09:38, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I know bots can't see if something is "good" or "bad", but since I am an editor for some time, and I had absolutely no problems of vandalism and things like that, and I also started several articles, I just thought bots would be smart enough to recognise that... anyway, thanks again for the reply. A tag has been placed on Image:Debian Installer screenshot.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

DVD Decrypter Screenshot[edit]

I coudn't help but notice your screenshot of the program running under Wine. Why bother when there are numerous native X-Window/Linux tools that do the same thing?

Just wondering --angrykeyboarder (a/k/a:Scott) (talk) 02:46, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I searched for an image of DVD Decrypter running under wine and have found none on wikipedia... maybe you are referring to the image of ImgBurn, right? I included simply to show that the program can run under wine... I agree that there may be many other native alternatives for Linux, and maybe even better, but like I said, it was just to show the program running on Linux... Proposed deletion of TIB (file format)[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article TIB (file format), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. —/Mendaliv//Δ's/ 02:45, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fedora edits[edit]

Hi. Just an FYI - when adding stuff to the Fedora page (this is probably applicable to other pages), please can you see whether the content will fit into existing sections, rather than creating new sections with just one paragraph. In the case of your recent Fedora edit, the Live USB content would have fitted well into the Distribution section (which I have now merged it into). Cheers. ~~ [Jam][talk] 23:14, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, first of all I want to apologize for maybe being too "harsh" on my comment... second, I personally have no problem with "non notable things", if they are good, unique, etc... I have no problem to keep/create an article about them on wikipedia, but in this case I can't do much... Even if I improved the article, it would still not be notable, and would be likely deleted... I hope you understand, and don't hesitate in asking for help ;) Cheers. SF007 (talk) 02:43, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but I have never heard of this software before. Not that I used that as an excuse for prodding. The point is, rhetoric like that is not very convincing. Dig up some reviews, find some citations for the sales. hbdragon88 (talk) 00:14, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm glad you just talked to me for now insted of taking this to "Articles for Deletion"... While this may not be as notable as WinRAR or so, I admit it... It as been around for a while under the name Thinstall, and is the #1 software used to make portable apps (for now, of course this may change). Fortunately, I was able to find some "good" (or semi-good) news and reviews, I will post it on the talk page of the article, and even include it in the article, if it seems appropriate...
