You recently moved the page for the ""Rolls-Royce Phantom (2003)," renaming it "Rolls-Royce Phantom VII." You really should have discussed this on the talk page first, because there has been discussion of that topic previously. More to the point, it's not correct. BMW & Rolls-Royce do not call the current car the "Phantom VII," or the last-generation model the "Phantom VII," any more than Toyota calls the current Corolla "the Corolla XII." If you don't believe, take a look on Rolls-Royce's website for yourself. It is true that previous generations were called "Phantom VI," "Phantom V," etc., but that convention is used because Rolls-Royce used it in their literature and promotional materials to identify the car. They called it the "Phantom VI," and so Wikipedia should, too. But if BMW chooses not to do that with the current Rolls-Royce models, then we should follow that, too.

Your justification was that you "Remove[d] unnecessary parentheses/disambiguator: consistent naming with related articles." This is thus a false consistency, because it implies a naming convention that no longer is operative. As for related articles, take a look at the Honda Accord page as one example. There, the generations are labelled and given their own pages as Honda Accord (ninth generation) and so forth. We don't call it the Accord IX.

Bottom line, I'm not trying to start an edit war, but I think you erred and should considering undoing the change. Sacxpert (talk) 09:05, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
