WP:BLOCKEVASION[edit]

Hello, what does this mean? 2A02:C7C:74AD:AF00:6524:AAF2:BF99:20F0 (talk) 17:47, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@2A02:C7C:74AD:AF00:6524:AAF2:BF99:20F0. WP:BLOCKEVASION means Block evasion when someone evades a ban. 220.240.159.198 (talk) 09:10, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Asking for Clarification[edit]

Please will you state that this account is not an alternative account for Owen Blacker? I ask because this account is 7 years old yet you have created only 18 articles though you have made 1000 s of edits. Those article coincide with OBs declared interests. Your logs for the last few days show a striking pattern of you editing when OB does not. And most of all of course your joint interest in me. If you would state that there is no connection it would be a great relief to me. NoorStores (talk) 11:56, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Also you and Owen Blacker seem to share an interest in Welshness? As per your most recent contribution. NoorStores (talk) 12:12, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm afraid NoorStores your accusations look absurd and are bordering on personal attacks. Theroadislong (talk) 13:12, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree they are absurd. They are also deeply worrying for me because Owen Blacker has a publicly linked account. I've already taken down my twitter account because I am afraid of the consequences if he realises who I am. So, I very much hope that Belbury will simply assure me that this not the case. I've asked Owen Blacker if he has another account and he won't deny it, so that is very worrying too. NoorStores (talk) 15:04, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Theroadislong is not agreeing with you, they are saying that your accusations look absurd. They are absurd. I am not Owen Blacker's alt account. Belbury (talk) 09:07, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Editing[edit]

This is in response to the warning message you left on my talk page. I am just a sensitive person, and it seems I cannot win no matter what I do. I love game shows, and I figure good faith editing should be used, but whatever. Smh. I did add sources (albeit incorrectly formatted I will agree to that, and I was told the website I used in particular wasn't allowed, and that's fine. I can find other sources etc. The article was also revered by another Wikipedian I believe due to the incorrect refs and that's fine etc. and I was still going to revise that article, the sources were still correct/not myth information on the Hurl game show page, but still). I take a break from Wiki for personal reasons, for a couple of weeks, and come back to that. Smh. If it wasn't for the fact I'm scared to edit that article again, due to a false edit war claim, I would revise it now. But I need to stay away from that article for the time being on principle, because again I don't want the false edit war claims, and I'm going to take a deep breath and calm myself down smh. I have to defend myself/give my side of the story. It's just if I didn't leave this message on your talk page it seems I'm being defiant. If I defend myself, give my side of it; I cannot win, and again, it comes across that I'm also being defiant it could come across that way etc. and yeah you know what I'm sorry, but now I'm almost kinda scared to edit on Wiki now, as good faith needs to be used between Wikipedians. I apologize if this came across harshly, but yeah. I'm sorry.☼Phrasia☼ (talk) 02:54, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Phrasia: Hi there. I didn't revert your edit because you hadn't formatted the source correctly, I reverted because the source didn't support most of the content that you'd added. You can't source a statement like Due to possible shock audience response, the show was very short lived. to a single press release put out prior to the show starting. Belbury (talk) 09:05, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see. But you also left me a message on my talk page as if I am intentionally trying to be disruptive, which I'm not. In any event, I apologize and I'm sorry about this, and I understand, and you can delete this conversation if you wish. I just wanted to just agree to disagree with you, that yes I was wrong with not having correct sources, but I still feel the way you came at me wasn't right, and I'm trying my best to be a good editor and yes. Thank you. :) ☼Phrasia☼ (talk) 09:14, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Phrasia: I think a level 3 warning template was justified here. I initially gave you a level 1 template assuming you to be a new user who didn't know they had to use sources, but then realised you've been here 17 years and just don't keep talk page WP:ARCHIVEs, that you've deleted several past warnings about the same problem.
You need to use sources when writing Wikipedia articles.
I'm obviously assuming good faith and don't think you're being intentionally disruptive. Belbury (talk) 09:42, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'd argue that you should have a reverse approach, if I was a new/inexperienced editor, then more stern warnings/being on edge/being concerned is okay, maybe even assuming this is a troll/vandalism etc., but yes I have been a Wikipedian for a long time, however as I am not perfect, I am Autistic, so I make mistakes, and I feel immediately leaving a message on my talk page "You will be blocked from Wiki", over a mistake on a solitary article, I don't now man, smh. But yeah. Now do you see what I mean etc. Again I'm sorry about all of this, and yeah. ☼Phrasia☼ (talk) 09:46, 5 February 2024 (UTC).[reply]

Please Help Me | Request for Clarification Regarding Recent Sockpuppet Investigation[edit]

Dear @Belbury

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to address the recent Sockpuppet investigation that was initiated concerning my Wikipedia account. I would like to provide some context and clarification regarding the circumstances that led to this investigation.

First and foremost, I want to stress that I am not a Sockpuppet. I have been an active contributor to Wikipedia for a considerable period of time, and I am genuinely committed to upholding the principles of integrity and transparency within the community.

Recently, I have been more actively engaged in contributing to Wikipedia, particularly in relation to articles such as Baryl Vanneihsangi & Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi. During this time, I encountered challenges in sourcing appropriate images for these articles. In an effort to address this, I attempted to upload publicly available images directly to Wikimedia Commons for use in the articles. Unfortunately, I was unaware of the specific copyright concerns surrounding these images, which led to their removal.

In light of these events, I am reaching out to you to communicate my genuine intentions and seek your understanding. I acknowledge that my recent activities on Wikimedia Commons may have raised concerns, but I assure you that I am approaching my contributions with sincerity and good faith. It is important for me to emphasize that I am still in the process of familiarizing myself with the intricacies of Wikimedia Commons, and I am open to learning from experienced editors like yourself.

I kindly request your assistance and guidance in navigating these challenges. I am eager to rectify any inadvertent missteps and ensure that my future contributions align with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Your support and mentorship would be invaluable to me as I strive to contribute positively to the community.

I genuinely appreciate your attention to this matter and the opportunity to discuss it further. I am eager to address any concerns and clarify any doubts that may have arisen.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely, Zuck28 (talk) 21:03, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Big Three Horror Icons[edit]

Dracula, Frankenstein, and The Wolf Man are considered the big three from the classic age of horror films right? WaseWislown (talk) 17:25, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

And Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, and Freddy Krueger are considered the big three from the modern age of horror films right? WaseWislown (talk) 17:27, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Given that the Universal Classic Monsters page previously listed Universal's "most famous monsters" as being Dracula, Frankenstein, the Mummy and the Wolf Man, maybe not. Belbury (talk) 17:32, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Just to note[edit]

Just to be clear on connections, because I don't want to have this be some secret household teamup, Doctawein is my fiancé, who mentioned this, and I stepped in because I've edited a lot more (as you can probably tell). Don't want to give a false consensus. I've been getting him into Wikipedia gradually, as one does with people you're in a relationship with. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.8% of all FPs. 17:27, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Adam Cuerden: Thanks, appreciate the clarification. Belbury (talk) 18:03, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Revert[edit]

So, the account I found was @b2coull (with the video here), not @billycoullofficial. The two accounts seem to be the same guy, based on images of him in various news articles about this event. The b2coull account also has videos with him talking, whereas billycoullofficial only has three posts and nothing since August of last year. If you in fact think that the account you cited is the only real one, I would like to hear your line of thinking. Schiffy (Speak to me|What I've done) 15:33, 29 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Schiffy: Thanks for giving a link! @billycoullofficial was all I could find. @b2coull is a joke video, it looks and sounds nothing like Coull, who's appeared in videos eg. https://news.stv.tv/west-central/willy-wonka-chocolate-experience-boss-truly-sorry-after-chaos. I guess this guy either shares a name with Coull and thought it would be a funny thing to do, or changed his username and/or display name for the sake of the joke. I hope you're happy[edit]

I hope you're happy for making my life hell. Always reporting my accounts and getting me banned. After I worked all night on improving a page, not getting a single bit of a sleep to do it, you come and revert everything and ban me. Yes. I am a sockpuppet. I have a mental health disorder and I won't stop my dream of editing and improving Wikpedia. I am only 18 years old and feel like my life is over when you report my accounts and revert all my changes. All that hard work. For nothing. I didn't sleep this morning because I was worried you'd come along and revert everything and ruin every inch of me. I got up and instantly checked because I know you like to cause me such dismay and ruin my life. You have been ruining my life ever since 2020.

So well done. Everyone hates me and wants me dead on here now. Hope you're happy with what you've done to me and my mental state. I was still in secondary when I got banned from Wikipedia in 2020. Yes, I was in secondary school! I made mistakes and I'm not perfect. I'm not a monster and just want to live my dream.

(talk page stalker) Hello IP 2A0A! Wikipedia is not therapy. If you want to continue to edit, I'd recommend making an unblock request from your oldest account. The request needs to be sincere and prove that you will no longer make disruptive edits or do sockpuppetry. —asparagusus (interaction) sprouts! 16:47, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Spicy ban me. I don't care anymore. I'm using my friend's WIFI right now so you don't list it for people to target! Because I know someone once said that I need to be taken down with force.
I'm never going to return anymore, but please remember that in all of this, there was always good intentions. I was never troll. Just a lost person who wanted to edit my interests and hobbies that I have knoweldge about. Yep. I made mistakes. And I'm not proud of it. But please don't make out that I'm evil or bad for what I've done! Yes, I broke the rules on using different accounts. I did it just because I wanted to escape the real world and do what I love doing.
I am a human and yes I am a sockpuppet. But I broke the rules for the first time for a miss-understanding and later for copying content from other pages without credit.
I'm off to Fandom to help edit a history wiki there :) 2A0A:EF40:E6B:8001:204A:6C98:376E:51B3 (talk) 16:50, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The advice you were given by admins at User talk:FloTheGreat#Blocked as a sockpuppet in 2021 still holds here. Take a genuine six-month break from Wikipedia and ask for the Wikipedia:Standard offer in September.
Nobody's calling you evil, we're just routing quickly around edits that clearly go against basic Wikipedia policy. If you want to contribute constructively to English culture articles, request an unblock. If you have some principled or personal reason for not wanting to do that, okay, but whatever that is it's not compatible with how Wikipedia operates. Belbury (talk) 19:03, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

To address about wikipage edit[edit]

Hii , Belbury

I need to talk about the wikiproject we are assigned under that me and 4 more people including Dhanya Suthar (whose edit you removed ) ,would add some "false awakening" related paragraphs from articles published in pubmed about it which might include protoconsciousness theory , and actually Dhanya forgot to add about reference to his paragraph but please it is a humble request that don't remove those edit , we will surely add citations and references accordingly , but this wikipage is pre decided to edit , and if you don't allow our topics to be displayed it might lead to unwanted consequences for future , so please don't delete those edits , we would edit appropriately, nothing will be wrong which we would add so please co-operate. Yeah it is medical students related project.

About my images that have been deleted from World Trade Center wiki page[edit]

Hi,

I saw how you reverted my contribute to the gallery on the WTC 1973-2001 page. Thank you for telling me the images are copyright but I just want to say I got around 10 images from NIST releases, which says "Public domain mark 1.0".

I can agree that I did upload some images found from elsewhere, which are probably copyright. But is it okay if I add the NIST images since they are not copyright.

-Varenimo Varenimo (talk) 22:33, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Varenimo: Thanks for the clarification! From a look at the NIST website I'm not sure it's true to say that every photo in their collection is public domain, but I'll raise a deletion discussion on Commons about it. Belbury (talk) 08:04, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, thanks for the response!
Where can I find the deletion discussion? I am new so I don't know how to travel around this site.
Some of my photos that I uploaded were not deleted, mostly my NIST uploads were not deleted. Can I upload the photos that are okay onto the WTC wikipedia? Varenimo (talk) 12:07, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You should have had a notification over at Commons. The NIST discussion is at Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Varenimo - please do correct me if I've misunderstood the nature of the archive.org subset!
Unless there's some urgency to having the photos in the article immediately, I'd wait to see how the NIST discussion goes before adding the photos back. Belbury (talk) 12:27, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Johnny somali[edit]

I received your message about Johnny Somali and your removal of an edit on his wiki page, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a "neutral point of view."

Johnny Somali is known for spreading false information without substantial evidence. The claim of him being a "Somali child pirate" lacks credible support and appears to be part of his persona as an online celebrity and troll.

It's essential to provide accurate and honest information to prevent readers from believing such unfounded claims about his background. Bluenosezulu (talk) 19:09, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The article says Ismael says that he was a Somali child soldier, which is not inaccurate.
If he's known for lying about his past to the point where reliable sources have written about that, please do add that to the article. Without that context, Wikipedia shouldn't take its own view on a person's statements by describing him as "claiming" things rather than "saying" them. Belbury (talk) 19:30, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the reply, will definitely amend it in accordance of what you said :) Bluenosezulu (talk) 19:45, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
