1Password logo update

I have uploaded the new 1Password 5 logo, with the same description and copyright attributes as the previous version. You can view it here.

If there is anything else, do let me know. Thank you

How to upload a non-free image
I went to this website (can be applied to any company/software that is relevant), downloaded the image to my computer, went to the "Upload file" section under "Tools" in the Wikipedia sidebar, clicked on "Click here to start the Upload Wizard" in the big text along the top, and filled in the information as needed. For the copyright information, I chose "This is a copyrighted, non-free work, but I believe it is Fair Use", and selected "This is a logo of an organization, company, brand, etc.", and then under "Which of these options describes this item best?", I chose "Logo of a company, organization etc.". The rest is fairly self-evident. I hope that was descriptive enough for you. If you're still unsure, just ask.

The picture of iMovie[edit]

Please add a different picture of the screenshot of iMovie with more videos and more information packed into the picture, like the other previous picture. I feel my idea seems good. Qwertyxp2000 (talk) 07:29, 24 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:ICloud Login Page Screenshot.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Hello, JC713.

How do you do? I am calling about your revision #646845513 in Vivaldi (web browser) article. For the meaning of "Release" please see § Release in Software release lifecycle article.

Disambiguation link notification for February 20[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited IFTTT, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page TNW. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

File cleanup?[edit]

Hi.

I noticed you've uploaded new versions of File:Microsoft Security Essentials icon.png and File:Paint Windows 7 icon.png that are larger in file size and show no apparent improvements. What exactly did you do to them?

Best regards,
Codename Lisa (talk) 00:11, 23 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, File:Paint Windows 7 icon.png had some jagged outlines (especially on the top), so I cleaned it up. As for the File:Microsoft Security Essentials icon.png, I did the same even though it isn't as noticeable as Paint because of the darker colors. Just curious, what are the implications of having larger file sizes? Like I said, I am still learning haha! Thanks again.
JC713 (talk) 00:38, 23 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
WHOA! Did you just say that you photoshopped a copyright-protected image?
You do know that it is illegal, don't you? Fair use allows limited reproduction of copyright-protected material like these but tampering like this isn't supported by the WP:NFCC rationale attached to the image. Please don't do that again.
Best regards,
Codename Lisa (talk) 00:45, 23 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
No, I would never do that! What I mean by cleanup is taking the original image and resizing it using Mac Preview. Sorry wrong terminology. I understand that you are not allowed to tamper with copyright material and I would never do that. Sorry for the misunderstanding Lisa.

Publisher vs. website[edit]

Hi.

In your recent update to Vivaldi (web browser), you seem to have made a rather sizable mistake in citations: You've put website names into |publisher= field. They should go into |website= (or |work=) field. CNET is the website name. CBS Interactive is its publisher. Also, no period should appear at the end of the |title=.

Best regards,
Codename Lisa (talk) 22:54, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, I will fix it when I get some time :D! See, I am still learning xD!
JC713 (talk) 22:55, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Fixing it was a priority in this case, so, as you know, I did it.
|authorlink= is for linking the name of the author to an article. Some times one supplies |first=Bill |last=Gates |authorlink=Bill Gates and the whole thing appears as Gates, Bill or Gates, B. as needed.
Best regards,
Codename Lisa (talk) 23:07, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi.

You should not use "x86" and "IA-32" interchangeably. You can study MOS:COMPUTING to find out why.

Replaceable fair use File:Tappan Zee Bridge Under Construction.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Tappan Zee Bridge Under Construction.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 22:48, 5 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

How was the see also section in Google Camera irrelevant?[edit]

Most pages link to similar services offered by competitors and similar applications offered by the same developer, why was the see also section irrelevant here? --Lumia930uploader (talk) 08:29, 29 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Lumia930uploader.
The reason I removed the "See also" links is because Google Camera is a camera application for Android. Google Goggles is a search tool that involves taking pictures, so it is not directly related. As for the Lumia apps, I removed them because 1) they involve a different platform (if they were available for Android, then by all means re-add them) and 2) the "apps" are a suite, not a single app (majority of the "imaging apps" are not related to Google Camera). I hope you understand. If you have any other concerns, please contact me.

Help with Citrix Systems[edit]

Hi there. I'm reaching out because I noticed you are a recent participant in WikiProject Technology and a member of WikiProject Computing, and I thought you might be interested in reviewing a section draft I put together for Citrix Systems. I should explain: I wrote the draft on behalf of Citrix in order to help improve their entry and due to my COI, I do not want to edit the article myself. I was hoping you might take a look at what I've drafted—it's for a new Operations section, which currently does not exist in the article—and let me know what you think. If you have time to review it, I've gone into more detail on the Talk page. Thanks, 16912 Rhiannon (Talk · COI) 21:37, 12 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello 16912 Rhiannon, I will take a look at it tomorrow because today I am quite busy :(. But I would be happy to do it and I am very appreciative of your COI concern!

Another request[edit]

Hi there, JC713! I'm writing because I posted a new section for review on the Citrix Talk page earlier this month and am having trouble finding another editor to review it. I've reached out on several WikiProjects already. I was hoping that if you had time you might be able to take a look since you were so helpful before. This new draft is a rewrite of the article's Corporate philanthropy section. It's a very short draft and, I believe, quite straightforward, but there are more details about what I'm proposing here. I understand if you're not able to, but would appreciate any assistance you can provide! Thanks, 16912 Rhiannon (Talk · COI) 16:34, 30 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Help with tech company edit request[edit]

Hi, JC713! I hope you don't mind my reaching out, but you've helped me with edit requests for Citrix Systems in the past and I wondered if you'd be interested to help with a request for another tech company. I'm now working on updates to Sageworks and have posted an edit request to update the article's History section. As you'll see, another editor who reviewed my request took issue with a part that's already in the live article, but did not offer any specific critique of my proposed updates. I appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks in advance! 16912 Rhiannon (Talk · COI) 21:00, 1 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

HI Rhiannon! I have been very busy with coursework lately, and would love to take a look when I get some free time. It may not be for a while, so please remind me in a few weeks as hopefully things will lighten up by then! JC713 (talk) 02:46, 3 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much! I'll keep looking around for others to help, too, but if no-one's been able to jump in by then, I'll ping back here in a couple of weeks. 16912 Rhiannon (Talk · COI) 20:24, 9 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again! Just wanted to follow up and let you know that another editor was able to take a look at this for me. Thanks again, 16912 Rhiannon (Talk · COI) 21:07, 17 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:11, 4 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I saw that you replaced the PNG logo of Subaru with an SVG. These specific kind of logos are better as PNG, because these have gradients which are difficult to reproduce in SVG. Also, if you compare the SVG file with the logo on Subaru's official website (here) you can clearly see the difference. Thank you. --Ben Stone 00:47, 1 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have not heard from you, so I re-added the PNG file. --Ben Stone 18:21, 6 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Ben Stone, the reason I replaced the PNG with an SVG is because that is what the Subaru page uses. I thought it would be better to have an SVG that is consistent across two pages rather than a more accurate, yet pixelated PNG. JC713 (talk) 19:05, 6 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I definitely prefer SVG when possible, but i looked at Subaru's own literature (here), and they use a PNG as well. As I said, gradients are very difficult to render in SVG. Also, if you keep a PNG at its original scale, it should be 100% accurate, as PNG is a lossless format. --Ben Stone 18:15, 8 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Hi,

just to understand, why this is not in commons? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Red_Hat_Logo_2019.svg — Preceding unsigned comment added by Teknoraver (talkcontribs) 11:56, 10 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Teknoraver, it could probably be on the commons, but I think, to some eyes, the logo may be a bit more complex than simple geometric shapes. JC713 (talk) 03:23, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Notice

The file File:IFTTT Logo 2015.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:02, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
