Actions of the drmies

[edit]

I mentioned your admin actions in an ANI thread [1] but I botched the ping. You deleted and salted the SPI in question twice but it came back. Meters (talk) 05:13, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, the OP's already been blocked. Meters (talk) 05:14, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Meters, glad it's dealt with. I'm sure you know that pings do not satisfy the notification requirement for AN[I], but I suppose that's what this message is for. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 15:05, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Not an attempt to make an official ANI notification, since the IP was not opening an ANI about you. I simply pinged you since I thought you might want to comment on the socking that lead to your salting. Meters (talk) 21:11, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

About 2025 Election

[edit]

Ghost of Dan Gurney believes RebeL News is "far-right." What is far-right? Hitler? The far-right politics page on Wikipedia does not describe any independent news media or Party I know of in Canada. Some people do not think the 'spectrum' is even relevant as Parties are syncretic. What were the other right wing news media 'dominating' the scrum? Wouldn't that 'domination' been a result of poor planning by the committee?

I read the NPOV. You seem to be in violation of it. I was striving for neutrality. Far-right, far-left...these seem like outdated terms, and subjective.

On reverting edits: "Before performing a revert, carefully consider the consequences of dismissing another editor's contributions, as well as any subsequent edits linked to the original change. Assess the specific elements of the edit that are problematic and contemplate the editor's intentions. Rather than reverting entirely, consider improving the edit to enhance the article's quality. If only a portion of the edit is objectionable, a partial reversion may be more appropriate; complete reversions should be used sparingly and are effectively executed using the undo tool."

After you, Ivanector, dismissed my good faith edit, I incorporated your efforts into a new edit.

I'm willing to work with you on finding a brief, clear passage that leads readers to source links. But, you must know that many people do not follow the old spectrum anymore. JayElk33 (talk) 18:00, 20 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

PS. This incident shouldn't dominate the page or importance of the 2025 Canadian federal election. Perhaps you could create a new page devoted to the incident if you feel inclined. Just an idea. JayElk33 (talk) 18:03, 20 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You're overthinking my motivation, I just pulled "far-right" from our Rebel News article, where it's described in the first sentence as "a Canadian far-right political and social commentary and media website", and where "far-right" is cited to a fairly long list of sources. If you disagree that Rebel News should be described as "far-right", you should take it up on the talk page for that article. As for the debate incident and neutrality, NPOV means that we follow the point of view of reliable sources, not that we artificially alter our articles' points of view to be more middle-of-the-road. All of the sources that I consulted for this, even the National Post which is often considered a right-of-centre source, described the events as Rebel News specifically and other right-wing outlets disrupting the events, so that's what I wrote.
Courtesy ping GhostOfDanGurney and McSly; this discussion should continue on the article talk page, not here. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 18:18, 20 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks and agree. Phrases like "But, you must know that many people do not follow the old spectrum anymore." Certainly give me pause, though.
I have made a thread on the talk page about it, but in this instance, I'm not sure how much time we should be allowing ourselves to spend on it when I'm quickly losing my good faith about this editor being here to build an encyclopedia. ―"Ghost of Dan Gurney" (hihi) 18:40, 20 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Can you delete Zach McKelvie due to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Zach McKelvie also protect from being made without admin approval? DarkHorseMayhem (talk) 02:26, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Ivanvector DarkHorseMayhem (talk) 15:56, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@DarkHorseMayhem: I think you're asking about WP:G4 deletion, the speedy deletion criterion for articles that are substantially similar to deleted articles. You can't see the deleted version of course but they're not really that similar, so I don't think I can speedy delete this. Also, the deletion discussion was six years ago now, and it seems that the subject was recently promoted to head coach of their Army team, which I think is probably still not sufficient for notability but the situation is not the same as the past discussion. I think you should list this for AfD again. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 16:32, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Its kinda stupid that deletion discussion can take place and user can just make page again short while. My bad for pinging you DarkHorseMayhem (talk) 16:42, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Nominate articles for deletion

[edit]

Hi Ivan can you nominate following articles for deletion for me because i cant do it because i dont know i tried once and it was all the mess and can also put your own input if you want:Don Madge, André Gusmão EssentiallySports and Rafael Alves (fighter) DarkHorseMayhem (talk) 17:47, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

[edit]

I can't work out how to do a "thanks" using the app but thanks for this. I agree wholeheartedly - we have had phases of this battleground stuff before in the India topic area but this lot, with their multiple SPI/AE/ANI etc reports where they consistently take sides as them/us groups is as bad as I have ever seen. - Sitush (talk) 17:53, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Togggle

[edit]

Hi Ivanvector,

Just got to know about this: [2]

As acknowledged by me before, Togggle profile belongs to me. But there was some edit from this profile on 22 April. I don't know how my password got compromised. Can you please share what did he comment on 22 April? It has become a curious case for me. Dympies (talk) 04:03, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
