The article Menachem has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Superfluous article based upon an alternate (and less accurate) transliteration of the Hebrew name Menahem (disambiguation) מנחם; both are acceptable (and mostly interchangeable) transliterations of the exact same name and should all be listed in one place.

The wording of the template you used indicates it's intended for use at the beginning of the citation. I had not seen this particular template before; that's why I didn't notice it there.
