Hello, Bkroeger. I would also like to join others in welcoming you to Wikipedia.

I have placed a template on the page Speech acquisition proposing that its content be merged to Language acquisition. All interested editors (of course, this includes you) may comment at Talk:Speech acquisition#Proposed merge and indicate their arguments for or against the proposed merger. If there is general consensus for the merger, the content of Speech acquisition will be copied to Language acquisition, and the former page will become a redirect, meaning that anyone visiting Speech acquisition will automatically be forwarded to Language acquisition. If there is no such consensus, or if consensus is not to merge the pages, the merger will not be carried out.

Excuse me for continuing in German, but I have come to the conclusion that you feel more at ease discussing this in German.

Zunächst einmal vielen herzlichen Dank für den hübschen und schmeichelhaften barnstar, den du mir für die Ergänzung der IPA-Transkription im Artikel Bernd J. Kröger verliehen hast. Allein: mir ist nicht ganz wohl bei dieser Umschrift, denn ich frage mich 1. ob es denn wie damit behauptet im Deutschen überhaupt üblich ist, den Mittelnamen/zweiten Vornamen deutscher Personen als Abkürzung auszusprechen; und wenn ja 2. ob es dann ausreicht, die Aussprache [jɔt] anzugeben, da doch Österreicher einschließlich Südtiroler den Buchstaben J als [jeː] sprechen (z. B. wird im Wiener Nahverkehr eine Linie [jeː] über die Lautsprecher angesagt; das ist ähnlich wie Briten Z als [zɛd] sprechen, während für die USA [ziː] gilt). Was denkst du, welche Ausspracheangabe enzyklopädisch angemessen ist: [bɛɐnt jɔt ˈkʁøːɡɐ], [bɛɐnt (jɔt) ˈkʁøːɡɐ], [bɛɐnt ˈkʁøːɡɐ], [bɛɐnt jɔt/jeː ˈkʁøːɡɐ] oder [bɛɐnt (jɔt/jeː) ˈkʁøːɡɐ]? — Für eine übereilte, unausgereifte Antwort sehe ich keine Veranlassung. P.S.: Wie du offenbar gemerkt hast, gehöre ich zu der alten Garde, die sich noch an die Regel hält, /r/ nach Kurzvokalen außer /ə/ nicht vollständig zu [ɐ/ɐ̯]) zu zentralisieren, sondern immer noch eindeutig velar auszusprechen (mit Friktion [ʁ] oder meistens ohne [ʁ̞/ʌ/ʌ̯])). Für Westfalen ist das natürlich schwer verständlich; viele neutralisieren vor /r/ in der Silbencoda die Opposition zwischen Lang- und Kurzvokalen denn auch vollständig. Hello Deb, I have the impression that it is not a conflict of interest, because phonetotopy is found in many studies. I am just the person , who created this name and as you can see I have introduced it in literature (in a book) as well. Possible solution: I will add more literature, which points on the concept phonetotopy. and: I will make it more clear in the main text. Is that ok?
