Image tagging for Image:Saberi1.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Saberi1.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Saberi1.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Saberi1.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 19:50, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Um, I don't really know if I can help you there. I don't speak that language and I pretty much only work on this Wikipedia anyways. But good luck with the promotion! Cirt (talk) 11:29, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the best place to talk about which articles need work in the Film-related area is the talkpage for WP:FILMS. Cirt (talk) 11:54, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Dayere Zangi Poster.jpg}[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Dayere Zangi Poster.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Wikiproject Iran[edit]

I am not a member of this project. However, there are two thing I know you can do.
1. Add your ID to the Participants list at Wikipedia:WikiProject Iran.
2. Post the question asking what you can do to help at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Iran.
Hope this helps.--Dr who1975 (talk) 16:44, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Help[edit]

I would try to help you, but I don't exactly know what your interests are. Editing is easy I believe and adding new pages would require some more work and proper citations (a list of references). This may be helpful to you for editing [1]. And once again, welcome to Wikipedia!--Getoar (talk) 23:05, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Dayere_Zangi_Poster.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Dayere_Zangi_Poster.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 09:29, 20 April 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Melesse (talk) 09:29, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Maryam Palizban[edit]

Hi! I saw your message on my talkpage about the picure of Maryam Palizban (mpaliz.jpg) and the copyright issue. I have to be honest, I am not an expert of copyright regulations and I may not be able to offer adequate advice, but I'd suggest you provide the source and make sure there are no claims of "copyright (c)" for the photograph. If you got the picture from M. Palizban herself then just state it there and people will deal with it. Make sure you offer some proof of communication with the author of the photograph, explicit permit is usually required.—Getoar (talk) 07:59, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bbadree!
We thank you for uploading Image:Mpaliz.JPG, but there is a problem. Your image is currently missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. We apologize for this, but all images must confirm to policy on Wikipedia.

Speedy deletion of Sheikh Ahmad Jami[edit]

A tag has been placed on Sheikh Ahmad Jami requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Ironholds 15:48, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please read the note I left on the articles talk page. Ironholds 16:04, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well not at the moment, no. As I said, write the article then post it, for now the deletion tag stays. Ironholds 16:15, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well that's just wonderful, because as an english bloke from central london I speak Farsi fluently :|. As I said, when the article shows importance I will remove the tag. Ironholds 16:34, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed a red link from the see also section in this article. Per WP:SEEALSO, the see also section should contain only blue links, when you create the other article, then feel free to readd the link. Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 18:06, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sheikh Ahmad-e Jami[edit]

Yup, corrected it. I just removed all the code entirely; it isn't like the date is going to change or whatnot. Ironholds 16:21, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's good; my apologies for nominating it for deletion, although the tag was valid at the time. I'm going to spellcheck it and stuff. Ironholds 16:25, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to rename the "influences" as "impact". "influences" means people who inspired Ahmed-e Jami, not people who were inspired by him. Ironholds 16:28, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, Influenced would be people who were inspired by him. You put influences, so people who he was inspired by. In addition, Poet means "the person who writes poetry", not "a piece of poetry", which is poem. If you'd like anything else spellchecked now or in the future please feel free to ask; I know i'd be much worse at arabic than you are at english :). Do you have an english translation of the piece of poetry in the article? Ironholds 16:34, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Do you speak the language and could maybe make a translation? Ironholds 16:45, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'll ask persion poet gal then, she should know! Ironholds 16:51, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've spellchecked it, yes. I'm confused; where did I say "stuff"? Ironholds 17:18, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Monobook is one of the different appearance settings :S. You can't download it, no, and it'd be useless if you could. If you want to experiment or get better at editing use the Wikipedia:Sandbox or ask an experienced user for advice. Ironholds 09:40, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wait, do you mean how do you download scripts so that you can edit better? Ironholds 10:19, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh ok, you mean installing scripts in the page monobook.js? and it's User:Persian Poet Gal, although she isn't that active at the moment. Ironholds 12:04, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You paste it into your monobook.js page. What script do you want to use? Ironholds 12:10, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well what do you want to do with it? Revert vandalism? Add categories, what? Ironholds 12:16, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There isn't really anything to make articles easier to create, i'm afraid. I use some scripts, but they are for deleting pages. Most scripts are for deleting pages and doing boring things like putting pages in categories, not for creating pages. Ironholds 12:21, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Are you going to use them for CSD's? I'd advise not focusing on deletions at the moment. Deletions normally involve large amounts of discussion, and without a fluent grasp of english this can be quite confusing for both sides. If you do still want to contribute to deletions go to "preferences" "gadgets" and then activate the software called "twinkle". Please read Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion thoroughly before nominating things for deletion; different wikipedia versions have different policies, so you may not be familiar with all of them. I will keep an eye on your edits so I can help you if things go wrong. Ironholds 12:29, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well if you give me the text you would normally have put in, I will translate it. Ironholds 16:05, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Is 22 the year? is it BC or AD? Ironholds 09:33, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Templates[edit]

When marking an article as a stub or adding a template two braces should be used on either side of the template, not one. (eg. {{stub}} not {stub}). By the way, good work on creating articles. Anonymous101 (talk) 19:46, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Mahdi_iraqi.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Mahdi_iraqi.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Substantial motion[edit]

I'm sorry, but the item I deleted was not even a definition, but merely a bald assertion that "it's an important notion"! If this topic interests you, then you should expand Mulla Sadra#Substantial motion before thinking of breaking it out as a separate article. (Your fellow editors working on the main Mulla Sadra article will be able to help advise you when it's ready for a separate article.) Always remember, a separate article must be comprehensible on its own, even to a reader who's never heard of Sadra or his works and knows little of Islamic philosophy. --Orange Mike | Talk 13:42, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:A. Behravanfar.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [4], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Film343Cover.jpg[edit]

Asif bin Barkhia[edit]

  • You inquired about Solomon's companion Asif bin Barkhia (آصف بن برخیا). I'm sorry to have taken so long to get back to you. But I am not sure that there is a clear analog in Hebrew literature. I have not, for example, found the same account of the incident with the Queen of Sheba and Solomon's companion. There are Hebrew literature accounts of Solomon employing his aide Benaiah the son of Jehoida to act as a go-between with the Queen of Sheba, but that is slightly different from what I understand to be the accounts of Asif bin Barkhia. I'm sorry that I was not of greater assistance. Please do not hesistate to conatct me again if I may be of greater use in the future. And best wishes in your article writing. -- Dauster (talk) 00:12, 12 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your two messages. I am absolutely fascinated by Jamshid Kashani, not least because my ancestry are all Kashanis and somehow I feel that I understand him and his family on a very deep cultural level. I watched the TV series (on one of the websites) and liked it very much, specially the later part of it, during which time Kashani was leaving Kashan and his period in Samarkand. The problem with the earlier part, in my opinion, was that the person who played Kashani as a child was not a strong actor (at least not strong enough to play Jamshid the child). Jalilvand got better and better as he advanced through the series (his acting was rather imperfect in the earlier period, playing Kashani in Kashan). It was a pity that no one in the series spoke, or even attempted to speak, with Kashani accent.

Now, as for writing something on the original book Nardebam-e Asman, unfortunately at the moment I have absolutely no time to commit myself to this undertaking. The problem is compounded by the fact that I will have to read the book first before I can write something meaningful about it. In point of fact, if you consider this section, you will notice that it is very incomplete. I have long since sorted out how Kashani calculated sine of 1 degree to 16 decimal accuracy, however thus far have not had the necessary time to write something about it in the Wikipedia entry of Kashani. Incidentally, the way in which Kashani calculated the sine of 1 degree in the film series is erroneous! For a while I was even thinking of writing to the director of the series and let him know of my displeasure at this clear shortcoming in the series.

Incidentally, in 1994 Professor Mohammad Bagheri of University of Tehran has discovered a new letter, written by Jamshid Kashani from Samarkand to his father in Kashan, in the Library of Majles. If you search on the Internet, you might be able to find the article that Professor Bagheri has published on his discovery in which he reproduces the original text of the letter (I did search the Internet, however was not able to get hold of the article --- I found some links to the article, but they all proved outdated and therefore dead links. In 1997 Professor Bagheri published an English translation of the latter letter in Historia Mathematica, Vol. 24, pp. 241-256 (1997). I have got this paper, which is extremely interesting.

Lastly, since in the series a great deal of reference is made to the observatory in Maragheh, you might like to peruse this document.

Incidentally, to my best knowledge, Aseman is wrong (it is colloquial); the correct (i.e. the formal) word is Asman (without "e") --- better, Āsmān. I should also mention that it was very good of you to create the entry!

Further to my above message, here is the reference you asked for. Kind regards, --BF 20:36, 15 October 2009 (UTC).[reply]
Yes, it would be great if you could get hold of copies of the originals. Possibly the documents at issue have already been digitized and made available to members of academia. Recently I read that the new and modern library opened in Shiraz is electronically connected to the National Library in Tehran so that people in Shiraz can get direct access to the documents in Tehran; it is therefore likely that one can get access to the digitized documents at Astan from both Tehran and Shiraz. Incidentally, the Library at Astan is one of the best worldwide. We had another unique library in Ardebil (the Shaikh Saffioddin Ardebili Library), but all its contents were looted by the Russians; the bulk of that Library is now in Saint Petersburg (some of its valuable items were later given by Russians as "gifts" to other countries!). In this connection, this should interest you. This is also interesting. --BF 20:59, 15 October 2009 (UTC).[reply]
I did visit the site and had success! The key to success is typing "غیاث‌الدین جمشید کاشانی" in the search box! The Astan Library has 8 books and the Library of the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad has 2 books (at least according to the search engine). What I further discovered is that perhaps as a measure to protect their site, they are applying a technique whereby addresses originating from third-party sites are altered, whereby one will get an error message on attempting to reach a specific page from outside their system (the whole thing can also be due to a programming or a system error, whereby addresses in Roman letters are incorrectly translated into Arabic letters); what I can access directly, becomes inaccessible on attempting to access via Wikipedia. The following are what the Astan Library has:
University Library has the above first and last works.
Kind regards, --BF 22:27, 15 October 2009 (UTC).[reply]

One quick note: it would be very nice to find out more about the cast and the people behind the scene. For instance, who played Ghazizadeh Rumi? This person was by far one of the best actors of the whole series; he played the role of a scientist very correctly, and in fact absolutely perfectly. Who played the role of Jamshid's father, Masoud? In particular, in the later parts of the series, he played also absolutely perfectly. Who was responsible for the make-up? Again, as the series progressed, the make-up got better and better. Who designed the costumes? The costumes very good and very elaborate. Who wrote the music? Also the music was very good. Who was responsible for the special effects? These were also very good. For instance, the whole Samarkand Observatory on the top of hill (the round building, which was very reminiscent of the Maragheh Observatory), was entirely computer-generated! Who produced the series? Etc., etc. The references that I have given in the pertinent section of the entry on Jamshid Kashani contains most of these information. --BF 16:48, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Nardebam screenshot.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Nardebam screenshot.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 03:38, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (File:Reza beyk.jpg)[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Reza beyk.jpg.

You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 15:04, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Al Kashi Stamp Iranian 1979.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Al Kashi Stamp Iranian 1979.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 15:14, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It already exists[edit]

Are you not aware of the existence of the section Mulla Sadra#Substantial motion? Work on improving and expanding that instead! --Orange Mike | Talk 16:52, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's generally considered a good idea to expand upon a topic in a parent article first, garnering feedback and improvements from one's fellow editors as one goes. If the section gets too large, then would be the time to start considering a daughter article about the specific topic. (In this way, it is to be hoped, one will also attract attention from other editors interested in and knowledgeable about the topic. --Orange Mike | Talk 18:24, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Masoud Rayegan requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Bbadree! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 1,092 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Pantea Bahram - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Mehdi Hashemi (actor) - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

You are now a Reviewer[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:53, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Esfandiar Monfaredzadeh has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No references, seems unremarkable.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Sheikh Ahman Jami requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Bgwhite (talk) 23:09, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Can you tell me anything about this statue? When was it erected (approximately) and if recent, who did so? I ask because neither Iran nor the US (where Wikipedia's servers are housed, so whose laws we have to follow) says that publicly displayed works can be photographed and published without permission, exempting fair use (see commons:COM:FOP#Iran). If we don't hear from you on the image, we may have to delete it as a derivative work. Magog the Ogre (talk) 13:28, 16 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Pouri banai.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Pouri banai.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 11:31, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Irene Zazians.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Irene Zazians.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. A tag has been placed on Andre Arzoumanian requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Proposed deletion of Begoo Begoo[edit]

The article Begoo Begoo has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

nothing other than a few lines that could be incorporated in a parent article; no evidence of notability asserted

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — kikichugirl speak up! 05:47, 25 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. IPBE[edit]

Hello,

I’m Mike V, one of the checkusers on the English Wikipedia. While performing a review of the accounts with the IP block exemption user right, it was noted that you have been using a web host, proxy, and/or editing through TOR. However, the exact reason for editing with IPBE was not immediately noted. To help assist in completing my review, could you please provide me with a quick response to why you need to edit with IPBE? If you wish to discuss this privately, you are welcome to contact me via email: Mike.V.wiki@gmail.com. Thanks and I’d greatly appreciate your assistance! Need your help to verify a few points, please![edit]

Dear Bbadree, I created the page for Iranian Biofuel Society (IBS). The page was nominated for speedy deletion. I tried to provide valid references and examples such as the page you created, i.e., Linguistics Society of Iran. However, unfortunately, they were ignored by the user who had originally placed the tag (apparently a near native Farsi speaker). I would be greatly appreciative if you could kindly go through the history of the talks and assist me with the verification of the references. Thank you!Meisam tab (talk) 08:02, 8 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:18, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
