Please do not add or significantly change content without citing verifiable and reliable sources, as you did with this edit to Edward Abbey. Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. AspeningAWB (talk) 04:46, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

February 2021[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Secret Agent Man (Johnny Rivers song) has been reverted.
Your edit here to Secret Agent Man (Johnny Rivers song) was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links in references which are discouraged per our reliable sources guideline. The reference(s) you added or changed (https://www.discogs.com/Danny-Vaaksa-Vaaraa-Vain/release/6948393, https://www.discogs.com/Polysics-Plus-Chicker-EP/release/6880294) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Images in Long Walk of the Navajo[edit]

Hi, I'm Netherzone. I wanted to reach out to you personally to explain why I reverted your edit to Long Walk of the Navajo. The changes to images in that article did not comply with our Wikipedia Manual of Style. For more information see Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Images. Please let me know if you have any questions in the future. Netherzone (talk) 01:46, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I see that you reverted my revert. The images still do not conform to the Manual of Style (MOS) this link is specifically to the Image section of MOS. Please read the links above for more information so that you can correct the article. Also, the way to "see the images bigger" is to simply click on them. None of the images in the encyclopedia are usually big enough to see without clicking on the images to enlarge. We have these design standards for specific reasons and continuity and by community consensus that has developed guidelines and policies developed over a period of years. Please reach out with questions. If you are not interested in communicating with me, you can contact the Help Desk or the Tea House. Here are the links: WP:Help desk WP:TeaHouse. Wait, so it HAS to be 220px? Even though those images look like mashed dog shit like that, they have to stay that size? Even though that makes them more narrow than the infobox right under them? 216.158.244.248 (talk) 02:02, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Please refrain from aggressive language, I'm trying to help you. The encyclopedia has a Manual of Style, please familiarize yourself with these guidelines. The "infobox" you refer to is not an infobox, it is a template that is incorrectly placed. Netherzone (talk) 02:43, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No one's being aggressive. That's how normal people talk. The article is back as you want it. Have great one.216.158.244.248 (talk) 04:03, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nice work on improving the Long Walk of the Navajo article. I am trying to figure out a way to use the mural image you like in a larger format that complies with our guidelines. Also, I placed a welcome notice at the top of your talk page that has some helpful links, because it can be hard to find info about the inner workings of WP, it took me years and I am still learning.
A good link with lots information on editing Wikipedia here: Help:Getting_started. And another good one here: Wikipedia:Contributing_to_Wikipedia. Because it takes a while to learn all the policies and guidelines, this link may also be of use: Wikipedia:Policies_and_guidelines. And here is a simplified style guide (because the Manual of Style is so vast) Wikipedia:Simplified Manual of Style. And the famous Wikipedia "Cheatsheet" is located here: Help:Cheatsheet. Netherzone (talk) 15:29, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! I appreciate it. As for the mural, I've seen a "Gallery" or "Image" section on some pages, but 1) idk if that's up to code, as it were, and 2) there's only the one. Not quite a gallery. Anyway. I guess it's not really that big of a deal but it's such a nice piece. Oh well. Thanks again. And btw, sorry if I came off like a jerk. 216.158.244.248 (talk) 15:47, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I figured out a way to include a larger image of the mural per MOS guidelines, and moved it to the Legacy section. I also found some other images that are out-of-copyright and added them. It's a good article, and there may be enough additional historical images to build a gallery section at the bottom of the article. BTW, you didn't come off as a jerk, just frustrated. Don't hesitate to reach out to me on my talk page if you have any questions in the future. Netherzone (talk) 16:11, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
