Colors[edit]

Could someone please change the color of the template box? Right now I can't see the title of the template without highlighting it. 199.79.168.163 (talk) 22:23, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Category: Comic book templates[edit]

This template is currently in the category Comic book templates, as it should be. However, it looks like every link in this template has also been added to the same category. I tried to fix the tag at the end, but it hasn't solved the problem. Could somebody please fix this template, so that everything included in it, is not placed into the wrong category? Multiple issues...[edit]

Colors: Please review WP:COLOR for issues dealing with accessibility and color use. Nutshell: Do not use color combinations that make any part of the template hard or impossible to read. Not only for you, but also for others. Of the recent schemes proposed:

  • Black and white - Since the "Hide/Show" and v-d-e links cannot have their color changed, using a black background makes them all but invisible. This is not acceptable.
  • Lavender (#b764d4) - Effectively hides "followed" links and it comes close with the "unfollowed" links. Again, this is unacceptable.

Content: It really looks like we are engaging in overkill and jargon. In general:

  • "Earth-###" should be avoided. "Marvel" and "Ultimate Marvel" are preferable.
  • Avoid non-articles (redirects that target sections) about un-produced material - ie the Venom film.
  • Avoid "What If...?" and alternate future articles. This would mean removing:
    • Frank Castle
    • Normie Osborn
    • Mayday Parker
    • Poison
    • Kron Stone
    • Benjamin Richard Parker
    • Peter Parker (under Carnage)
    • Norrin Radd
    • Gwen Stacy
  • Ultimate Marvel characters should be a separate section, if they have separate articles.
  • We shouldn't have multiple links in the template pointing to the same article - such as 2 pointing to Venom or 3 pointing to Symbiote
  • By the material at the link, "Payback" does not belong here at all.
  • It maybe a good idea to it back to listing the variants in one section with the notable host in parentheses.
  • Magazine titles should be italicized. Story arc titles should be in quotes.
  • "The Black Suit" is at best an informal title for a section of the Spider-Man publication history. It shouldn't be here.
  • TV - Pointing to episodes by title is fine, including the series isn't.

Minor other media apperences and other cruft[edit]

There really is no need to include every single thing that Venom or other symbiotes have appered in, that is not what a navbox is for and other navboxes for fictional characters/teams are not formated the way Penguin7812 seems to want to have it. I feel Penguin7812 rather is exhibiting WP:OWN issues. In trying to revert my "mess" you instead created an unreadable box with sections inserted into sections that could not look good to anyone. I would appreciate if you took a step back and took a look at how most other marvel character Navboxes are formatted.★Trekker (talk) 15:34, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have started a conversation on the comics project talkpage.★Trekker (talk) 15:42, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Oh yeah, just put the a single section named hosts, so no reader will be able to know which person had hosted which symbiote and also remove those video games and storyline where the symbiote species play a major role in, because it's just "too much". Yeah great "idea". No just kidding, I totally disagree with you. You could check the Template:Skrull and Template:Kree as have suggested. Penguin7812(Talk Page) 15:45, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This is not how navboxes are used, many characters play huge parts in games and films, that doesn't make the main characters, this is not "my idea", this is how the vast majority of all comics character navboxes are formated. And seeing which character has "been" whith which host isn't that important considering many of them have had several mantels, this is a navbox not an article, readers can get that info from each characters article. Feel free to converse on the comics project.★Trekker (talk) 15:49, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
