– The main subject for Template:Beauty and the Beast should be the works adapted from the original rather than works derived from the Disney adaptation. TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 03:51, 2 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • The visible title on all of them starts with "Disney's", so it was an anomaly that this template's name became Beauty and the Beast. Adding "Disney's" to the name at the beginning would be consistent with the others you found. Randy Kryn 03:32, 4 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Randy Kryn and Egsan Bacon:, Actually, most Disney franchise templates don't have the word Disney at the front of the title (see the animated film franchise templates at List_of_Disney_theatrical_animated_features#External_links). I think the larger issue is how to handle Disney templates in general when the Disney franchise is a subset of a larger multimedia franchise. There are 4 different ways in which Disney franchises are incorporated into multimedia templates:
  1. Unified templates with Disney content separated: Template:Tarzan and Template:The Jungle Book
  2. Unified templates with Disney content integrated: Template:The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Template:Winnie-the-Pooh, Template:Snow White, Template:Pinocchio, Template:Alice, Template:Peter Pan, Template:Sleeping Beauty, and Template:101 Dalmatians
  3. Embedded templates with Disney template transcluded: Template:The Little Mermaid
  4. Dual templates with some overlap: Template:Frozen vs. Template:The Snow Queen, Template:Tangled vs. Template:Rapunzel, Template:Disney's Hercules vs. Template:Hercules media, Template:Aladdin vs. Template:One Thousand and One Nights, Template:Beauty and the Beast vs. Template:La Belle et la Bête, Template:Disney's Cinderella vs. Template:Cinderella, and Template:Princess and the Frog vs. Template:The Frog Prince
  • Maybe I should open up a broader discussion elsewhere. I would like to rework the templates so that one way is consistent across all templates.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 12:54, 5 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@TonyTheTiger:do you need me to use AWB to change the transclusions first, before I make the moves? -- Aunva6talk - contribs 04:19, 9 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

in light of the questions and such, regarding the potential of a differing title, i'm going to wait on moving till i hear back. i'm about to head off for the night, but i'll check in in the morning. doesn't appear that any of the titles brought up were controversial anyhow.-- Aunva6talk - contribs 04:29, 9 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I think you are asking about all the pages that have the templates. Yes please change the transclusions and then move the templates.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 04:31, 9 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
did you want it changed to any of the titles that you brought up in the discussion? i.e. disney's?? -- Aunva6talk - contribs 04:43, 9 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The discussion above supports the name destination of Template:Disney's Beauty and the Beast for the first move and the second move as proposed. In order to not screw up the encyclopedia, all pages transcluding the first template will need to have their code adjusted so as not to be transcluding the second template following the name change. So we need a name change and some transclusion adjustments.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 13:04, 9 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I anticipate opening a discussion for an adjustment of the whole batch of Disney templates at Wikipedia:WikiProject Templates since Wikipedia:WikiProject Disney and Wikipedia:WikiProject Media franchises seem semi-active.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 13:11, 9 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
well, i'll get started then. i'll just move it to the proposed title in the discussion. -- Aunva6talk - contribs 14:29, 9 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
aunva6, Are you moving to Template:Beauty and the Beast (Disney) or Template:Disney's Beauty and the Beast. I thought the disussion supported the latter.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 18:07, 9 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
uhhh... it's already moved. i can do another move for that. that's what i was trying to ascertain... since you filed the RM under the (disney), but there was some discussion as to an alternative. is that what you would prefer?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Aunva6 (talkcontribs) 19:31, 9 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The alternative is what seems to be supported by the discussion so that seems to be what the consensus would prefer.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 20:34, 9 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
well, okay, i'll move it again. -- Aunva6talk - contribs 20:41, 9 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
aunva6, It is broken now. Each place that transclueds it has a redlink.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 21:28, 9 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
look again. i changed all the transclusions first -- Aunva6talk - contribs 21:38, 9 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
