Bobby Petrino's tenure[edit]

Jrcla2 has reverted my previous edit by stating that it violated a WP:CFB policy. Can you point me to the specific policy at WP:CFB, however, that states that the only thing pertinent to a head coach's tenure is the season in which he coached his final game with the team? I have looked in virtually every page at that Wikiproject and can't find a reference to that standard.

Petrino's situation isn't merely an issue of being fired after a January bowl game or similar situation, which would make the 2011 date clearly more accurate. He performed significant coaching duties and responsibilities beyond the 2011 season, including signing a new recruiting class in February, hiring additional football staff as recently as March, and overseeing the first half of spring practice in March.

Signifying his term as "2008–2011" seems to arbitrarily cut out all of those activities in 2012 to me. He was the coach through April 2012, and performed significant coaching duties beyond the end of the 2011 season. In the absence of a link to a specific policy at WP:CFB stating otherwise, I have re-changed the Petrino tenure to read "2008–2012." It more accurately reflects his coaching tenure and the unique circumstances under which it ended. -Jhortman (talk) 07:34, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Jhortman, while this policy has not been formally written out, it has been effectuated in every existing coaching navbox. I invite you to investigate and see for yourself. If you'd like to change this effective policy, please start a discussion at the CFB talk page. Thanks. Jweiss11 (talk) 13:04, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
