Move?[edit]

Ar-Raqqah GovernorateAl-Raqqah GovernorateAr-Raqqah GovernorateAl-Raqqah Governorate — "Al" is the definite article in the Arabic language, he who created this page obviously can not read arabic and merged it together with the name — Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 19:32, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • In Arabic it is written --l-r-- in unvowelled writing, --lr2-- in vowelled writing with a shadda sign, and pronounced --rr--. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 21:26, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yes, there is a shadda and it is pronounced Ar-ra... but it would be better to normalize it by simply using the "Al" when writing the english names. I think. Yazan (talk) 02:41, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • This is a case of bad translation, the name is "Raqqa Governorate" and then the Arabic "Al-" is supposed to be before it.--Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 09:52, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
