Talk:Louise Blouin Media

Something to look at[edit]

Louise Blouin Media have responded to the negative story in the New York Observer. I'd like to note as well that the quote we have from the Observer story reads more like an editorial opinion column than an objective news story. The series of lawsuits they describe, if true, don't seem to imply anything about "keeping the lights on" either literally nor metaphorically.

Due to a potential conflict of interest (the Observer article discusses a dinner at which I was in attendance), I won't be getting directly involved. I merely post here to bring the issue to wider attention.--Jimbo Wales (talk) 07:33, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

History secton[edit]

This article contains more info on controversy rather than the info about this company's history and other. Wasted over an hour searching history info for for this article and trying to balance it. If you are not allowing anyone to work on it then why did you kept the tag on the top of the article? - Variation 25.2 (talk) 20:31, 17 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected[edit]

Following some unpleasant vandalism, I have semi-protected the page for a short period of time. -- The Anome (talk) 02:55, 21 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest[edit]

A number of contributors to this article appear to have a close personal or professional connection to the topic, and thus to have a conflict of interest. Conflict-of-interest editors are strongly discouraged from editing the article directly, but are always welcome to propose changes on the talk page (i.e., here). You can attract the attention of other editors by putting {{request edit}} (exactly so, with the curly parentheses) at the beginning of your request, or by clicking the link on the lowest yellow notice above. Requests that are not supported by independent reliable sources are unlikely to be accepted.

Please also note that our Terms of Use state that "you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation." An editor who contributes as part of his or her paid employment is required to disclose that fact. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 17:25, 23 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Request edit[edit]

Louise Blouin Media is an international group of art magazines[1], websites and book publishing company founded in 2003 and based in New York. It was founded by Louise Blouin, magazine publisher and philanthropist, she is also President of Louise T Blouin Foundation[2]. Louise Blouin Media’s titles include Blouin Art+Auction, Blouin Modern Painters, Blouin Lifestyle, a newspaper dedicated to fairs and cultural events, Blouinartinfo Newspaper, a museums guide and galleries, Blouin Gallery Guide, the websites Blouinartinfo.com and Blouin News. Louise Blouin Media also owns Somogy, the global art book publisher, and publishes art price guides Blouin Art Sales Index. The mission statement is <copyright violation redacted> through media, events, partnerships and "Blouin Creative Leadership Summit" held in New York annually alongside the official partner, the United Nations[3].

References

Thank you, Lbm user2015, for using the talk page to request changes to the article, that is helpful. I've declined your request, as the content you have proposed is unduly WP:promotional in tone ("to provide unparalleled access"!), contains at least one copyright violation (which I will remove), and offers no improvement that I can see over the current text. In general, a successful edit request takes the form "please replace [x] with [y] in the [n]th paragraph, as evidenced in source [z]" or "please add [x] after [y] in the [n]th paragraph, as evidenced in source [z]". Succinct requests are more likely to succeed. Copyright violation is never tolerated in Wikipedia. Please understand clearly that we are not here to publicise your employer or its products. Dear Justlettersandnumbers How could we add all Louise Blouin Media brands? It’s not a promotional tone to add all brands of a company. Today Louise Blouin Media has a worldwide portfolio of assets devoted to the arts, culture and luxury: Blouin Artinfo.com, Blouin Art+Auction, Blouin Modern Painters, Blouin Gallery Guide, Blouin Monthly Editions, Blouin Lifetsyle, Blouin News, Blouin Art Sales Index, SOMOGY Art Publisher, and the Blouin Creative Leadership Summit. Can you add this information for the introduction of the page? I don’t understand why we can’t add all brands of Louise Blouin Media on the Louise Blouin Media page. Lbm user2015, like many of your colleagues, you seem to have fundamentally misunderstood the purpose of Wikipedia: it is not here to promote or publicise your employer (or anyone else, for that matter). What we try to in this project is to report what is said in independent reliable sources. The products that are mentioned in the article are those that seem to have attracted the attention of independent authors (and include most of those you've asked to have added, though without going "blouin, blouin, blouin …", which soon becomes tedious).
Our articles do not normally make any attempt to list all products of a company; Nestlé, for example, supposedly has over 2000 brands – we're not going to try to list them all, even in our List of Nestlé brands. Please read again the last four sentences of my last post, immediately above your last (i.e., starting from "In general, a successful edit request …". If you see something that is wrong or missing in the page, and you can cite reliable sources that report it, you can try making a short, to-the-point, edit request. You must declare your paid status when doing so. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 18:06, 25 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
