On 1 January 2023, it was proposed that this article be moved from 2015 Middle East respiratory syndrome outbreak in South Korea to 2015 MERS outbreak in South Korea. The result of the discussion was moved.

I can see the rising number of deaths and cases. The table might attract readers, but is prose enough to help readers understand the topic without the table? --George Ho (talk) 04:27, 10 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

To Phoenix: Your logic is off for retaining Korean sources. When updating vital statistics, editors of English Wikipedia should not have to retain a source, no matter how "official" it is, if they cannot read that source (i.e... if it in Korean). In fact, it may be deceptive, if that source doesn't give that updated information. Information deserves to be updated in a timely fashion, and pages shouldn't have to wait for you or any other editor to do updating. I thank you for your attention to this matter, and for your attention to this important page, and the good work you've done. But please try to think of the English (only) speaking audience here. Please note that your source lasts only a day while the official source lasts forever. If you wish to add a daily source, please add not replace the official source with it and update three descriptions (lead, infobox, and table) in the article. The Ministry of Health source is also in English. I suspect it is the only original and authoritative source. Aren't others using the Korean MOH as the original source? BTW, I think the numbers are off in the table. The press release for June 24 shows 179 cases, 27 deaths (cumulative). As of 13:39 UTC there is no release yet for June 25. The press release by the Ministry of Heath and Walfare is original. The WHO page is a translation from a MH&W page as indicated in the WHO page. The English page of the MH&W is a translation of a summary of the Korean press release. As often the case, there is a delay to reflect to the translation page. The official press release is published at 8:30 (Korea Standard Time UTC+9) in the morning as described in the attached file (.hwp) at the bottom of the press release. (You may not be able to read the file. You can download a converter for Microsoft Windows.) Yes, the MOH page you linked to is the best source, the only original probably. I think the totals should be reduced by 1. The 181 includes a case from May 29, of a Korean who went to Hong Kong and then inland and became the first case in China. He (#10) was infected with MERS from his father (#3) at Pyeongtaek St. Mary’s Hospital and went to China where he was diagnosed with the disease. So there is no problem including him in the cases of the outbreak of Korea.―― Phoenix7777 (talk) 04:15, 26 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The WHO includes the Chinese case, but the Korean MOH does not. I was thinking it might be better to report the data from Korean MOH since that is the referenced source. The WHO used a ring or donut graph to show cases, deaths (http://reliefweb.int/sites/reliefweb.int/files/resources/sudan%20yellow%20fever.pdf). I think it's kind of a striking image, although I know data viz gurus would say use a bar chart. Works better for the recovered, dead, under treatment data, sinceit's clear that deads are not within recovereds like deads are included in cases in the other graph. It seems like this article is lacking information on the government's response to this outbreak. Such information could be added either under the "Effects" section or under its own heading. @Jlevi: The Korean Wikipedia article has some article pertaining to this in the "reactions" section. It also notes international reactions to the outbreak. We could incorporate information from there. Unfortunately, the sources are in Korean so we could have to go through the tedious process of checking every reference and trying to interpret the broken translations that Google offers.
