Park Ji-sung (Korean박지성; born February 5, 2002), also known mononymously as Jisung is a South Korean singer, dancer, and actor.[2] Park is a member of the Kpop boy group NCT, where he serves as the main dancer,[3][4] and in subunit NCT Dream[5] and rotational subunit NCT U.[5]

Prior to his debut with NCT, Park was active as a dancer, performing with dance crews and as a backup dancer for artists.[1] Park also worked as a child actor and appeared in various television dramas, films, and commercials.[6][1]

Early life[edit]

Park Ji-sung was born on February 5, 2002, in Seoul, South Korea.[6] At 8 years old, he started learning popping from Nam Hyun-joon and continued to be active in his dance crew, until he was 11 years old.[6]

Career[edit]

2010-2015: Career beginnings[edit]

In addition to performing with dance crews and as a backup dancer for artists, Park also appeared as a child actor in several TV dramas, films, and commercials,[1] including the 2010 KBS2 children's program TV Kindergarten Funny Funny,[7] the drama Tree with Deep Roots, and films Crossbow War[8] and Go, Stop, Murder (2014).[9] In 2013, Park represented South Korea in the CCTV International Children’s Concert held in China,[10] where NCT's Chinese member Chenle also performed.[11]

In 2013, Park participated in Mnet dance program Dancing 9[8] and was scouted by an SM Entertainment talent agent.[12] As his mother being a fan of TVXQ and SHINee, he agreed to audition and successfully became a trainee under SM Entertainment.[8] On December 17, 2013, he made his debut as part of SM Entertainment's pre-debut team SM Rookies,[13] when he was just 11 years old.[14]

From 2014 to 2015, Park participated in the "SMTown Week" and "SMTown Live World Tour IV" world concert tours.[15] In July 2015, he appeared in TVXQ's U-Know's music video "Champagne".[16][17][15] On July 23, 2015, he appeared on Disney Channel's The Mickey Mouse Club[18][15] during his time as an SM Rookies member.[19][1] In 2016, he filmed the reality show NCT Life in Bangkok .[20]

2016–present: Debut with NCT Dream and dance shows[edit]

On August 25, 2016, Park officially debuted as a member of NCT Dream with the single "Chewing Gum,"[21][22][23] and performed on Mnet's "M! Countdown."[24][25][15]

In May 2018, Park participated in JTBC's Why Not? The Dancer,[1] filming the show in Los Angeles, America, with his seniors, Eunhyuk and Taemin from SM Entertainment and Lee Gi-kwang.[26] In September 2018, Park was a contestant on the KBS dance survival show Dancing High[27]and scoring 71 points from fellow dancers, and 72 points from the judges,[28] winning 9th place in the first episode.[29]

In 2020, due to a knee injury, Park was not present for NCT 2020 Resonance promotion.[30] In 2021, Park became the youngest Kpop idol double-million album seller.[31]

In 2021, Park took part in NCT 2021 Universe, the third-studio album by NCT.[32] He participated in Beautiful,[33] Birthday Party, Vroom, and Dreaming with NCT Dream.

In 2023, Park took part in NCT 2023 Golden Age, the fourth-studio album by NCT. He participated in The Bat, Kangaroo, Alley Oop as part of rotational sub-unit NCT U, and Golden Age the title track. [34] Park is ranked within the top 100 in Korea's idol brand ranking in 2023.[35][36][37]
