Maidstone and Malling (UK Parliament constituency)

Maidstone and Malling is a proposed constituency of the House of Commons in the UK Parliament.[1] Further to the completion of the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, it will first be contested at the next general election.

Boundaries[edit]

The constituency will be composed of the following (as they existed on 1 December 2020):

  • The Borough of Maidstone wards of: Allington; Barming and Teston; Bridge; East; Fant; Heath; High Street; North; South.
  • The Borough of Tonbridge and Malling wards of: Aylesford South; Ditton; East Malling; Kings Hill; West Malling and Leybourne.[2]

It will comprise the following areas of Kent:

Following a local government boundary review in Tonbridge and Malling which came into effect in May 2023,[5][6] the constituency will now comprise the following from the next general election:

  • The Borough of Maidstone wards of: Allington; Barming and Teston; Bridge; East; Fant; Heath; High Street; North; South.
  • The Borough of Tonbridge and Malling wards of: Aylesford North & North Downs (small part); Aylesford South & Ditton; Birling, Leybourne & Ryarsh (majority); East Malling, West Malling & Offham (most); Kings Hill.[7]

Constituency profile[edit]

Electoral Calculus characterises the proposed seat as "Strong Right", with right-wing economic and social views, high home ownership levels and strong support for Brexit.[4]
