The Kim Chol Ju University of Education is a university in Sŏn'gyo-guyŏk, Pyongyang, North Korea.[1]
History[edit]
The university was established on October 1, 1946, as the Pyongyang Teacher Training College (평양교원대학).[1][2] It changed its name to the Pyongyang University of Education no. 1 (평양제1사범대학) in September 1972.[1] It was renamed the Pyongyang University of Education in April 1989.[1] It assumed its current name in October 1990,[1] after Kim chol ju, younger brother of Kim Il Sung.

Doctorate was awarded to Jin Jae Gyong, head of a department of Kim Il Sung University, Kim Ui Song, a researcher at Pyongyang Medical College under Kim Il Sung University, Yu Song Chol, head of a department of Kim Hyong Jik University of Education, Ho Nam Chol, dean of a faculty of Kim Chol Ju University of Education, Han Pok Nam, head of a department of Kim Chaek University of Technology, Kim Kyong Chol, vice-dean of a faculty of Pyongyang University of Architecture, and others.

Kim Hyun-sik, a former professor at the Pyongyang University of Education and now a research professor at George Mason University, made the assertion in the latest issue of U.S. magazine Foreign Policy.
