<: a. CO <; CO WRECK OF THE TITANIC 241 saw my father. This was about half an hour beforethe ship sank. I then went to the starboard side with Milton C. Long, of New York. On the starboard side the boats were getting away quickly. We thought of getting into one of the boats, but there seemed to be such a crowd around I thought it wouldnt do to make any attempt. JUMPED INTO OCEAN; FOUND BOAT About this time people began jumping from thestern. I thought of jumping myself, but was afraid ofbeing stunned on hitting the water. As the boat startedto sink we stood by the rail. Long and myself saidgood-by to each other and jumped up on the rail. Hedid not jump clear, but slid down the side of the ship.I never saw him again. I jumped out feet first, went down, and as I cameup I was pushed away from the ship by some force. I was sucked down again and as I came up I waspushed out again and twisted around by a large wavecoming up in the midst of a great deal of small wreck-age. My hand touc
