The Fuente de Neptuno (Fountain of Neptune) is a monument in the neoclassic style that is at the center of the Plaza Cánovas del Castillo. It was designed in 1777 by architect Ventura Rodriguez and construction, was completed in 1786 . The main figure of Neptune was sculptured by Juan Pascual de Mena, who died in 1784. The remaining sculptures were continued by Mena’s disciples Jose Arias, Jose Rodriguez, Pablo de la Cerda and Jose Guerra. It was made of white marble from Montesclaros ( Toledo).
