English: Pie chart depicting surface use
Date
Source Own work, http://www.globio.info/impacts/ "Currently, approximately 1/3 of the land area is directly converted to agricultural lands. More than 40% is under conversion and fragmented, and less than 25% remains intact. The majority of this is however located in the Arctic and in deserts." Also, "Many critics of overpopulation point to the fact that the Earth's population of roughly 6.8 billion people occupies less than half a percent of the Earth's land, an area comparable to the US state of Texas (268820 square miles), which would leave each person an area of 1,102 square feet available for habitation" from Overpopulation.
