Description
English: In the Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas and various scriptures, the Sagun-Sakar form of Devadhidev Shiva is known as Mahadeva or Maheshwara. Maheshwar's Ardhangini (wife) is - Devi Maheshwari. The same goddess Maheshwari has also been known by names such as Parvati, Adishakti, Mahadevi, Shiva (Shivani), Amba, Jagdamba, Durga, Bhavani, Chamunda, Shakti, Parashakti, Maa, Bhagwati and Mool Prakriti.


वेदों, उपनिषदों, पुराणों तथा विभिन्न शास्त्रों में देवाधिदेव शिव के सगुन-साकार रूप को महादेव अथवा महेश्वर के नाम से जाना जाता है. महेश्वर की अर्धांगिनी है- देवी महेश्वरी. इसी देवी महेश्वरी को पार्वती, आदिशक्ति, महादेवी, शिवा (शिवानी), अम्बा, जगदम्बा, दुर्गा, भवानी, चामुण्डा, शक्ति, पराशक्ति, माँ, भगवती तथा मूलप्रकृति आदि नामों से भी जाना गया है.
