Dismantling the German experimental nuclear pile at Haigerloch, 50 km S.W of Stuttgart, April 1945. Rupert Cecil nearest camera, 'Bimbo' Norman* extreme right, Eric Welsh standing on outer rim, the second man behind Cecil * Professor Frederick Norman, University of London.

Caption in Goudsmit, Alsos (pp. 174-175) reads:

Alsos team dismantling "uranium machine" in cave at Haigerloch. Uranium cubes are in the center, surrounded by graphite. Pitching in are Lansdale and Welch (top left center), Cecil and Perrin (bottom center) and Rothwell (right, kneeling).
