Summary

Description
English: Troop movements prior to and during the Battle of Tordesillas during the en:Revolt of the Comuneros.

Pedro Girón's comunero army advanced to Villabrágima in late November. On December 2, he headed west to Villalpando. The royalist troops left Medina de Rioseco on the night of December 4, and took Tordesillas on December 5. Girón's army moved inexplicably slowly to counter the royal move, much of it being loaded down with loot from Villalpando, and he did not coordinate with other comuneros in Valladolid to launch a quick attack to retake Tordesillas or attack the depleted garrison at Medina de Rioseco.

Note: According to Stephen Haliczer's The Comuneros of Castile: The Forging of a Revolution, 1475-1521, the Royal army took en:Peñafiel on its way to Tordesillas. Since Peñafiel is to the east of Valladolid, and the advance is described as a quick march directly to its goal, I strongly suspect that Haliczer is mistaken and meant en:Peñaflor de Hornija, which is on the path (slightly to the northeast of Torrelobatón).

This battle map image could be re-created using vector graphics as an SVG file. This has several advantages; see Commons:Media for cleanup for more information. If an SVG form of this image is available, please upload it and afterwards replace this template with {{vector version available|new image name}}.

It is recommended to name the SVG file “BattleofTordesillas.svg”—then the template Vector version available (or Vva) does not need the new image name parameter.
