Éxodo is the upcoming fourth studio album by Mexican singer Peso Pluma, which is set to release in 20 June 2024. It will succeed his third studio album Génesis, which debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 and will contain songs in different music genres apart from regional Mexican music. It will contain collaborations with Tito Double P, Joel de la P, Arcángel, Eslabon Armado, Junior H, among others.

Originally promoted through the announcement of its accompanying tour, the album was revealed during an interview with Rolling Stone, where he also became the first Mexican artist to be on their front cover. "La People II", "Peso Completo" and "La Durango" will serve as singles from the album.

During an interview with Rolling Stone, where he also became the first regional Mexican artist to be on the cover of their magazine, he talked about winning his first Grammy for his successful album Génesis and revealed his next album title while regarding the rumors about his breakup with Nicki Nicole, to which he did not want to talk about.[1][2]

At the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards, Peso Pluma won the awards for Regional Mexican Song (for "Ella Baila Sola" with Eslabon Armado) and Regional Mexican Artist of the Year and would also confirm that Éxodo would be released in May 2024.[3] It was later confirmed that Pluma signed with Creative Artists Agency, where he is set to distribute the album from.[4] Through another teaser, the singer would officially announce the album's release date, 20 June 2024.[5]

Regarding Éxodo, he explained to Rolling Stone that his third album Génesis showed his "superhero side", but will show "his dark side" in Éxodo, and will also explore different musical genres, apart from regional Mexican music, and that it is a direct response to critics who "focus more on the negatives than the positives".[6][7]

Promotion[edit]

Peso Pluma would announce his second headlining and the album's accompanying tour of the same name on February 2024, which is set to have an "all-new show, inclusive of a fully reimagined set design and setlist."[8] Prior to the tour announcement, he would post a random date on X (formerly Twitter), 21 March 2024, along with the text "solo mi deber ejecute..."; it was speculated that his next album would be released on the exact date.[9] "La People II" with fellow singers Tito Double P and Joel de la P would instead be released on the date as the album's lead single.[10] It is a sequel to the first two artists' collaborative song "La People" from the album Génesis, and it peaked at numbers 69 and two on US Billboard Hot 100 and US Hot Latin Songs charts, respectively.[11][12]

"Peso Completo" with American rapper Arcángel would be released on 11 April 2024, as the second single from Éxodo, after it was announced that Pluma would release a Latin trap song.[13] Both singers performed the song at the 2024 Latin American Music Awards and it peaked at number 42 on US Hot Latin Songs.[14][15] Another single would be speculated after Eslabon Armado and Junior H shared an image on Instagram Stories, along with Pluma.[16] It led to the release of "La Durango" on 9 May 2024 as the third single from the album.[17] The single was also announced along with the album and its music video features Irish professional mixed martial artist Conor McGregor.[18] Peso Pluma performed it with Tovar of Eslabon Armado on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon; Pluma was also the show's special guest where they discussed the album and its tour.[19]
