Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

User talk page archives
[edit]Hello, Mr.work-shy,
It's hard to believe you have only had an account for one week when you have made over 1,000 edits during that period of time. It typically takes new editors months to accumulate that many edits.
But the reason for this message is that I see you deleting messages from your User talk page. In the future, please archive old messages. You can even configure a bot to handle this for you automatically although most editors handle this manually. But moving older messages to a User talk page archive page is how long-term editors handle clearing off their talk page and I recommend you starting to do it as well. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 07:12, 12 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Liz They are still just deleting. Doug Weller talk 10:53, 12 May 2025 (UTC)

- Ask at the WP:TEAHOUSE or the WP:HELPDESK. Meanwhile, stop deleting. You deleted something as I was replying to it. A lot of editors have very long talk pages, it won't hurt you to have a long one. A lot of editors who do what you do are making it hard to see how many warnings they've been given. Doug Weller talk 13:09, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
- Ok senior, this will never happen again Mr.work-shy (talk) 13:18, 12 May 2025 (UTC)

Dear Mr Work-shy. Your edits have introduced a large number of technical errors in the text that have become too complicated to fix. I have taken the edits back to the last known good version before you began editing. When you are editing, please:
- Provide an explanation for the changes you were trying to make for each edit. This way other editors can understand what you were trying to do.
- Preview every edit that you make to check that you have not broken anything or mislinked things.
- Note the country name is 'Solomon Islands', not 'the Solomon Islands'. Hence the page name. Refer to the main page for Solomon Islands for the country name. It was known as the Solomon Islands only in colonial times. They have moved on.
- The page language was British English. All the many Solomon Islands pages are either British English or Australian English. Australian English is the version adopted by the country for spelling etc and is taught in schools. This article is not about India, or strongly connected to India so Indian English is inappropriate.
- Sources According to many sources is not an acceptable source, must have a citation.
Happy editing, but please slow down, check your work carefully as you go and be mindful of the cultural sensibilities of others with an interest in the page. Ex nihil (talk) 12:38, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
- thnx u, for highlighting my mistake. Mr.work-shy (talk) 03:21, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
Chuanqing people
[edit]Infobox lists 6 religions, why tag only one with a CN tag? Doug Weller talk 10:57, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
- You need to be consistent. At Shan people you correctly remove Christianity as unsourced, yet in the article above you didn't give a cn tag to any other religion, just Christianity. Doug Weller talk 11:02, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
- in Chuanqing people, there is not a section of religion so I add the CN tag, and in Shan people, there is a section for religion but does not have any clue of presence of Christianity. The editor who add this should atleast add a single line with source for verification. If I have done something that violates Wikipedia guidelines please correct me.@Doug Weller
- Thank u Mr.work-shy (talk) 12:49, 12 May 2025 (UTC)

[edit] Please do not use misleading edit summaries when making changes to Wikipedia pages, as you did to Islam in Chile. This behavior is viewed as disruptive, and continuation may result in loss of editing privileges. Adding a see also is not a "ce", which means copy edit. Doug Weller talk 11:03, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thank u senior for correcting me Mr.work-shy (talk) 12:18, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
Muslims in Peru
[edit]A 1992 source isn't very useful. See [1] Doug Weller talk 15:37, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
- It is too confusing because multiple sources give different statistics 1000-5000. I already add invisible note in page Mr.work-shy (talk) 15:55, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
- I update it according to your command Mr.work-shy (talk) 15:55, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
