For the record[edit]

In reference to your comment on Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Pilot (House)/archive2, Featured articles are not chosen based on subject. They are chosen based on the quality. The articles length and topic are not a factor. A good example of articles that are not chosen based on topic is the Exploding whale article. To sum it all up: it's quality not quantity. • I'd like to request that you stop by and give your support at least give some actionable objection to the article becoming an FA. The Filmaker 20:55, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Misunderstanding[edit]

Hello there, I'm afraid that type of information can be seen as inappropriate for an article. Wikipedia tries to be as factually accurate as possible and information like that which you added is unverifiable. Thinking of it logically, did someone go around and ask each and every person there to see if they were gay? And even then, would the population all have been honest? It's for these reasons I reverted you additions to the article. --Sagaciousuk (talk) 06:20, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also:
In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you!

Image copyright problem with Image:OfficeNBC.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:OfficeNBC.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Deleting articles[edit]

Hi there, you left a note on Devin (The Office) for the article to be deleted, which should be carried out shortly. In future, please do not leave a page like this as this gives the false impression there is an article there when there isn't. Please either move the article to a new title (as would have been appropriate in this case), redirect it to another article (if you would have found that the article already exists) or have the page deleted by an administrator (in this case, you could have placed {{db-author}} on the page as you were the only contributor). Thanks, and happy editing, mattbr30 14:46, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of OfficeTally.com[edit]

A tag has been placed on OfficeTally.com, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (below the existing db tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. thadius856talk|airports|neutrality 20:05, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:ImpatientBarnstar.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ImpatientBarnstar.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 16:06, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Durham NC[edit]

I see you're adding this project banner to some articles. That's great, but I wanted to make a humble suggestion. You needn't add the Template: part inside the brackets. {{WikiProject Durham NC}} will achieve the same effect. It'll work either way, just saves a bit of typing. Hope that helps, and good luck with the project! :) --Ebyabe 17:06, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Deletion of a Tag on Devon's (The Office) Entry[edit]

I am not bound to discuss removing the tag. Here is a quote from the tag's disclaimer:

"You may remove this message if you improve the article, or if you otherwise object to deletion of the article for any reason. To avoid confusion, it helps to explain why you object to the deletion, either in the edit summary or on the talk page. If this template is removed, it should not be replaced."

Notice the wording. "If you otherwise object...for any reason." I am told that it "helps" to explain why I feel the object should not be deleted. I don't wish to help, I wish for Devon to remain on Wikipedia.

I see you're a Duke fan. That, along with your desire to delete Devon, is unfortunate.

A suggestion[edit]

In May 2005, Durham School of the Arts performed The Laramie Project, about a homosexual being beaten and killed. Ten members of Fred Phelps' Westboro Baptist Church came from Topeka, Kansas to protest. They were met by over 200 counter-protesters. In fact, counter protesters out showed the protesters 10 to 1. The actors and producers were given the Independent Weekly's Valor Award for ignoring protests by Phelp's group[1]. Victuallers 11:18, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:DurhamSchooloftheArts logo.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:DurhamSchooloftheArts logo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Fair use rationale for Image:WRAL Logo.jpg[edit]

Image:WRAL Logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I have received your request at WP:SCH/A for an assessment of Durham School of the Arts. As you are looking for feedback I would suggest you open a Wikipedia:Peer Review instead to get wider feedback. I also noticed you edited the rating of this article from "Start" to "B"; you are free to assess articles for WikiProject Schools as you wish - but please list your assessments at Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools/Assessment#Assessment summaries. Also, I would advice against editing the quality and importance ratings of articles that you are heavily involved in per WP:COI. Camaron1 | Chris 19:43, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The NC State main article received a "mid-importances" rating while the NC State Wolfpack article received a "high-importance" rating. I am not sure what criteria are used to judge the importance of an article, but that seems backwards to me. What do you think?

I have went ahead and put the GAN on hold for Climate of North Carolina. It just needs a few tweaks here and there to get up to GA status. It would be a good idea to include a few more references, or use the same one more than once using <refname=example/>. You also should include some information about the state's severe weather climatology. I suggest using data from Raleigh's National Weather Service office for detailed information, and the extremely useful (for all things) National Climactic Data Center database, for hard numbers and descriptions of events after about 1990. I don't know why, but I've always been fascinated by North Carolina, especially Raleigh. Keep up the good work! Southern Illinois SKYWARN (talk) 03:46, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The weather section is the one that needs more references, but even though I didn't see any controversial comments, cite everything in the Global Warming section. For the severe weather, look at List of North American tornadoes and tornado outbreaks for tornadoes in the state, and add them in under a severe weather section. Just include general severe weather climatology (deadliest, costliest). Just use those links above to find some of the info, but the list also has info. Southern Illinois SKYWARN (talk) 19:40, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've solved the problem concerning the lack of a precipitation section. Let me know what you think of the change, and whether or not it looks good to you. While I can't review it for GA per se, I can help out with the editing. Thegreatdr (talk) 20:16, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed we were both editing at the same time. I'm laying low editing other articles and my user page for the time being. The reviewer has given away one of the things he's looking for in order for the article to achieve GA on the Climate of NC talk page. Note the one line where a convert template cannot be used. Admin coaching request update[edit]

You have previously expressed an interest in undergoing the Admin coaching program. We're currently engaged in a program reset to help things move more smoothly in the future. If you are still interested in the program, please go to Wikipedia:Admin coaching/Requests for Coaching and re-list yourself under Current requests, deleting your entry from Older requests. Also, double-check to make sure coaching is right for you at the Coachee checklist; WP:Adoption or WP:Editor review may be more appropriate depending on your situation and aspirations. We should get back to you within a day or so, once a coaching relationship has been identified. Thank you. MBisanz talk 07:27, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Membership Reconfirmation[edit]

Hello there! If you're receiving this message, it means that you are currently in the Participants category of The Office WikiProject. A message involving reconfirmation was included in the current newsletter, but it was a bit buried, and I wanted to make sure that everyone received notice of this so we can get as accurate of a count as we can. The WikiProject is currently trying to find how many users listed in the Participants section are active members, and if you have a spare moment later, it would be a big help if you noted your reconfirmation by simply signing your signature here. And if you're a non-member reading this, feel free to drop by and add your name to the reconfirmation category; you'll be added into the list once it's finished. Thanks, and have a great day! WikiProject North Carolina May 2008 Newsletter[edit]

NEWSLETTER
Issue One • May 2008About the Newsletter

News

Cape Lookout Lighthouse

Hello WikiProject North Carolina members! A few of us at the The Newsroom Team decided to get together and re-energize the project, through these newsletters. This newsletter is hopefully the first of many to come. We want this project to be active in creating and expanding articles related to our state. If you're a current or former resident of the state, we hope that you will help spread the knowledge of how much there is to learn about North Carolina.

  • A great way to expand new articles is by keeping track of the new articles list. Please add any new NC-related articles or older ones you come across that have not been tagged with the project banner. When you notice an article has been added to the list, read over it and check for citations, grammatical errors, and spelling. If you've written a NC-related article in the past 5 days, read the requirements for Did you know... and add your article to the DYK nomination list. It might be chosen for the Main Page!
  • If you see a new member added to the project list, a great idea would be to leave them a welcome message on their talk page. Show them we notice new members and that we want them to become active participants.
  • If you have any questions in regards to the project, feel free to contact someone from The Newsroom Team. Thanks for all of your hard work and happy editing!

Booze Cruise[edit]

Just saw it. I can't take much credit for anything, you did a lot of the work.

Also, I'd like to pose a question. In the very near future, would you like to collaborate on the Season 2 and 4 articles? 2's almost at FL status, but 4 needs some work. Mastrchf91 (t/c) 22:03, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Since you've moved all The Office episode articles, all the images in them now fail the fair use requirements since they do not contain the exact name of the article in which they are used. Your task isn't finished. Gimmetrow 03:16, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Helpful Link[edit]

Hey. Didn't know if you used something like this or had every used this in particular, but whenever I am in need of a reference for an Office episode, this link always helps. Has a lot of reviews, production info, date refs, etc. Hope it helps! Mastrchf91 (t/c) 18:35, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. There's also a link somewhere that's a second page, mostly newer links. Mastrchf91 (t/c) 21:15, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the help with the references. Mastrchf91 (t/c) 04:10, 29 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Initiation[edit]

According to this, I have to abide by that. But, I'm not gonna fail it. But, I'm pretty sure another source can be found to replace TV.com. Why don't you just use the {{cite episode}} template? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 01:46, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, my bad. Some of these episodes are confusing me. Um, have you tried asking again? I think I can give you extra time, until something comes out in the situation. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 16:10, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Season 4 Eps[edit]

Hey, wanted to make sure that we're not working on the same episodes of season 4. I think that might be a bit counter-productive :D. I see you're doing Local Ad, I just wanted to "reserve" The Deposition for myself if you wouldn't mind. Mastrchf91 (t/c) 22:17, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Office references[edit]

Hey, I'm just curious where do you normally go to find references for The Office episode articles? Cheers! Gary King (talk) 06:26, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alright thanks, I will check those out. I'd like to work on a few episodes myself; not necessarily The Office, but the research methods are somewhat similar for television episodes. Gary King (talk) 17:10, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you have a chance....[edit]

...do you think that you could take a quick screen-cap of a scene from The Deposition (The Office)? If possible, one from Mose and Dwight's ping pong game. Thanks in advance! Mastrchf91 (t/c) 21:28, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a ton. We're inching ever closer to an FT. I think Night Out is almost ready for FA, what do you think? Mastrchf91 (t/c) 21:44, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'd say let's go for it. Three days should be enough for the reviews to encounter any major problems, and hopefully by the time you're gone it will only be minor changes. Mastrchf91 (t/c) 00:08, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
*Wipes beads of sweat off forehead*- Well, here we go! Also, I was looking, and I think Dinner Party (The Office) would be the best candidate to improve next. Mastrchf91 (t/c) 00:43, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
True. Actually, Goodbye Toby might be the better suggestion. Especially with the information about the new HR rep, and all of that. Mastrchf91 (t/c) 00:52, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have anyone who could give Night Out a good copy-edit? I went over to the League of Copyeditors....and discovered that it's no longer active. Doh! Anyway, I'm not sure where to get it CE'd, and wondered if you knew of anyone. Mastrchf91 (t/c) 15:42, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

<-- Hmm....Perhaps Gary King? Mastrchf91 (t/c) 15:45, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I've asked Gary. Mastrchf91 (t/c) 15:56, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome Back![edit]

Welcome back! As I guess you've most likely noticed, the FAC hasn't gone too well. Sourcing and prose problems are the main concerns with the article currently. Mastrchf91 (t/c) 23:46, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lost episodes[edit]

Well done on the GAN's, really well done. Just remember that instead of "don't", you need to write "do not", except if the word is in a quote. Other than that, everything was great! Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 07:04, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Ratings[edit]

There's a great site, http://www.tvbythenumbers.com , which does detailed analysis and has charts and rankings for TV ratings, but they started with the 2007-2008 TV season. If you want older info for ABC shows, you can go to http://www.abcmedianet.com and go to the press section, where they keep all of their old press releases with ratings for their shows, but it's not nearly as detailed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jackieboy87 (talkcontribs) 13:01, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:LostPeanutButterHurleyCharlie.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:LostPeanutButterHurleyCharlie.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:18, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rating: taking you up on your offer[edit]

Hi, there, Mr. Crabby, I'm taking you up on your offer to help out with rating the importance and/or quality of articles. I have been unable to figure out how to put a rating on the talk page of an article. I see the scale, and I went hunting for information on rating, but I couldn't find anything that described the steps necessary to actually post that rating on the page. I did quite a bit of looking, honest--help, help! Deirdre (talk) 22:04, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yep[edit]

I figured it out before you replied. Check your edit history. Thanks, and sorry for the error. Viriditas (talk) 15:17, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've been fixing this up in preparation for FL, and I was wondering if you might lend a hand. I'm keeping the format uniform with that of The Office (U.S. TV series) season 2, and the production, casting, and list are all sections I feel are good. But, I'm having trouble finding statistics and reception info. Just wondering if you could lend a hand. Mastrchf91 (t/c) 00:38, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This sentence needs to be changed: "Although he was placed in special education classes,[3] McElwain was introduced to basketball by his older brother Josh,[4] and was appointed manager of Greece Athena High School's varsity basketball team.[3]"

When did his brother introduce him? If he introduced him when he was young, then that needs to be moved up a bit...chronological order. Also, the article will probably fail the comprehensiveness requirement (see 3a) in the GA Review... Sorry and cheers, -talk- the_ed17 -contribs- 04:23, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll elaborate. Where is his history? There are only five sentences on his life prior to the basketball game, and only four on his life after the ESPY's... -talk- the_ed17 -contribs- 04:29, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As you are a regular at WP:FLC, you may be interested in taking a look at the new one, which will have different rules. Although they are still being fiddled with, three FLs in different topics will be required this time around. For more information, see here. A start date has not yet been determined, but it will likely begin some time next week. Thanks for the time, Scorpion0422 22:14, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
