Keatley Creek Archaeological Site
[edit]I chose this article as my first 'major edit' for the GOCE, and firstly think I need to ask you to delete Keatley Creek archaeological site and move my edit there. I was wary of getting into an edit war about this but believe my prospective opponent is no longer active! Thanks. AndrewTeal (talk) 06:10, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for your help, but you marked a major edit (removal of content) as minor. We don't delete entire articles and replace them with edits. I don't know who your "prospective opponent" is from the page history, but this is a collaborative project and we don't have "opponents". You changed the number of pit houses; although you don't have to cite that in the lead, you need to do so when the change appears in the body. Everything in the lead has to be in the body. All the best, Miniapolis 14:01, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks, sorry, I wasn't clear. I think I need, please, 'Keatley Creek archaeological site' to be deleted and 'Keatley Creek Archaeological Site' moved there in order to correct the capitalisation of the title. I hope I've understood that correctly. Point taken about deletions, I hadn't realised that automatically made it a major edit. Bad choice of word (prospective) — I was in fear of being challenged by forthright (now blocked) user:Skookum1, who thought that 'Keatley Creek Archaeological Site' was correct. Definitely not going to war! Point taken about not needing citing in the lead. Thanks for the help. AndrewTeal (talk) 14:54, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- I still don't understand what you're asking. Keatley Creek Archaeological Site is the page name; Keatley Creek archaeological site redirects there, but there's no logged page move. Whether or not "archaeological site" should be capitalized depends on reliable sources. Miniapolis 17:14, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- Sorry for the delay ... Searching for references to "Keatley Creek Archaeological Site" is inconclusive but indicates a majority for the lower-case version, however, I was actually basing my request on the MoS injunction to use sentence case rather than title case. So (in my opinion!) the page name and the redirect need transposing, and I can't do that. I don't understand "no logged page move", I'm afraid. AndrewTeal (talk) 08:48, 18 April 2025 (UTC)

(←) Any autoconfirmed editor can move a page (Help:Move), but there's a redirect so I'll delete it and move. Miniapolis 13:44, 18 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi again ... I'm afraid I don't understand why we now have both Keatley Creek Archaeological Site and Keatley Creek archaeological site as discrete pages when I think the former should redirect to the latter. AndrewTeal (talk) 09:43, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
- Sorry; I misunderstood, because it's confusing. I've now redirected Keatley Creek Archaeological Site to Keatley Creek archaeological site, but is the capitalization (or lack of same) really that important? Miniapolis 22:08, 20 April 2025 (UTC)

Interface administrator changes
- Following an RfC, administrator elections were permanently authorized on a five-month schedule. The next election will be scheduled soon; see Wikipedia talk:Administrator elections for more information. This is an alternate process to the RfA process and does not replace the latter.
- An RfC was closed with consensus to allow editors to opt-out of seeing "sticky decorative elements". Such elements should now be wrapped in {{sticky decoration wrapper}}. Editors who wish to opt out can follow the instructions at WP:STICKYDECO.
- An RfC has resulted in a broad prohibition on the use of AI-generated images in articles. A few common-sense exceptions are recognized.
- A New Pages Patrol backlog drive is happening in May 2025 to reduce the backlog of articles in the new pages feed. Sign up here to participate!
