The Front for the Liberation of the Golan or Committees for the Liberation of the Golan Heights or Popular Resistance Committees for the Liberation of the Golan Heights[1] or National Popular Coalition for the Liberation of the Golan Heights[2] is an alleged guerrilla organization formed by Syria in June 26, 2006.[3][4][5][6]Whether or not the Front participated as a fighting force (outside of the usual rocket attacks in the 2006 Lebanon War is as of June 2024, at least) up to interpretation, it is viewed by Syria as a victory by Hezbollah over Israel. Activities and Structure[edit]
The force is trained by Hezbollah, which in turn was trained by Iran.[citation needed] Still, it is notable that the Front is allegedly (according to one Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party – Syria Region official)[7] using Hezbollah style tactics,[8] while the above claim (it being trained by Hezbollah or Iran directly) is still dubious.
It is made up of hundreds of Syrian volunteers (many from the Syrian border with Turkey)[9][10][11] and Palestinian refugees living in the Damascus area.[12][13]
It's alleged aim is to recover the Golan Heights from Israel through a military campaign.[citation needed]
Conclusion[edit]
While there exists "documented evidence" of the names used and/or it's creation, the Front has not sustained a notible footprint in recent years, thus putting into doubt the legitimacy of Arabic/Western reports, still, more likely answer is that the Front has been used as a ploy Talk:Front for the Liberation of the Golan by Military Intelligence Directorate (Syria) to fearmonger the Golan Heights area by use of deception.
