Response[edit]

The instances where "God" was changed to "Yahweh" refer exclusively to the Judeo-Christian god, so the switch was made to reflect that. Considering there are other conceptions of gods, many of which go by "God" in everyday conversation amongst sharers of such conceptions, the change is intended to eliminate vagueness and establish a neutral point of view. - 69.85.216.188 (talk) 05:16, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Scoop (software) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable software product. (Slash was also not notable).

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The redirect was originally created as a shortcut for a similar page, Wikipedia:Explain your views, until it was merged into Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines. When you began discussing moving this well-used redirect, did it not occur to you to drop a line to the person that created it?

More importantly, that redirect was around for a very long time and was much used. Apparently, the old uses have been tidied up, which is great, but what about all the Wikipedians who continue to use it for the old use? How do you propose keeping on top of people inadvertently misusing it with the result of others being confused? --Dweller (talk) 01:26, 6 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I could use your input![edit]

Hello, I am a new editor on Wikipedia. I am interested in Alternative Medicine. I noticed the Burzynski Clinic article, so I tried to add some information to it.I tried to change the first paragraph, but Everything I changed was deleted several times, even though I sourced it. The first paragraph now has no sourcing and their definition of an "antineoplaston", is incorrect, so I tried to find the source and couldn't. So, I added the American Cancer Society's definition.(please see the article)I was told first that the American Cancer Society couldn't be used because it would make people think that the treatment was endorsed ( even though the American Cancer society is already listed as a source). I can't remember the other reason I was given. I tried to post on Dispute Resolution, but it was closed because two of the editors wanted to continue on Talk. We are not getting anywhere and there are about 5 editors that are of the same mindset. Is there anything I can do about this? Thank you!!Docia49 (talk) 17:46, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits to Land[edit]

I have reverted your edits to Land, as they seem to be generally incorrect, unencyclopedic, and not supported by the source provided. Specifically, land is not "dirt" (it includes a wide range of materials, primarily rock), it is not uniformly horizontal (following the curve of the planet's surface, and having a wide range of inclines. The phrase "foundation actual to human living" is unclear, and there is no sourced support for land having any "psychic" qualities, whatever that means. Also, I see no reason to hide the referenced material from the lede, stating that land, "sometimes referred to as dry land, is the solid surface of the Earth, that is not covered by water". Cheers! bd2412 T 14:40, 15 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article Intel (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Although there is nothing very wrong with having this page, I've already implemented a better disambiguation alternative: Hatnote disambiguation. (See WP:DAB.) As such, this page is redundant. Why should the reader spend a click and come here when he or she can simply go straight to the disambiguated destination?

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Disambiguation link notification for May 3[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Moloch, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Melech (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

SF edit-a-thons on March 7 and 8[edit]

ArtAndFeminism (3/7) and International Women's Day (3/8)!

Dear fellow Wikipedian,

In celebration of WikiWomen's History Month, the SF Bay Area Wikipedia community has two events in early March -- please consider attending!

First, we have an ArtAndFeminism edit-a-thon, which will take place at the Kadist Art Foundation from 12 noon to 6pm on Saturday, March 7. We'll be one of many sites worldwide participating in this edit-a-thon on March 7th. So join us as we help improve Wikipedia's coverage of women artists and their works!

Second, we will be celebrating International Women's Day with the International Women's Day edit-a-thon on Sunday, March 8 from 1pm to 5pm at the Wikimedia Foundation. Our editing focus will be on women, of course!

I hope to see you there! Rosiestep (talk) - via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:06, 20 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Parallel History Project requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Hard fort requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

A reminder regarding editing restrictions imposed by ArbCom[edit]

As you no doubt remember, as a consequence of a 2010 ArbCom case concerning you, you were explicitly required to cite sources for all content you add to articles. [1] Since this restriction has never been lifted [2] your recent creation of unsourced articles on Snap (military) and Expressive power clearly violate the ArbCom ruling. I suggest that you bear this in mind in future, since I suspect that given your past history the community is unlikely to show much more patience with you. AndyTheGrump (talk) 19:16, 28 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Article stubbing is not a crime, as it takes time to write a global compendium project. I understand that you may not happy there in Bristol, but if the aristos-kleptos money they pay you was worth a nickel they would have built that nice and easy to engineer walking bridge to Paris by now and have hired actual Europeans to do it, (jobs!). Rather than mooching off the Free (democratic honor, try it) people's of the world, and the work we provide, try the opposite. -Stevertigo (t | c, ed. 2002) 14:30, 1 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Stevertigo, if you can't immediately add sources to Snap (military) and Expressive power they may qualify for speedy deletion under WP:CSD#G5. Your ban does not allow you to add unsourced material. Let us know if you plan to address this. Thank you, EdJohnston (talk) 15:01, 1 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A Wikipedia panel discussion about journalism
Panel discussion at a recent Wikipedia & Journalism event.

The last Wednesday evening of every month, wiki enthusiasts in the San Francisco Bay Area will gather to collaborate, mingle, and learn about new projects and ideas. We have two brief presentations lined up for our kickoff event in downtown San Francisco:

  • The Nueva Upper School recently hosted the first ever high school Wikipedia edit-a-thon. We will hear what interests them about Wikipedia, what they have learned so far, and what they hope to achieve.
  • Photojournalist Kris Schreier Lyseggen, author of The Women of San Quentin: The Soul Murder of Transgender Women in Male Prisons, will tell us about her work and how she researched the topic.

We allow time for informal conversation and working on articles. Newcomers and experienced wiki users are encouraged to attend. We will have beverages and light snacks.

Please note: You must register here, and bring a photo ID that matches your registration name. The building policy is strict on this point.

For further details, see here: Wikipedia:Bay Area WikiSalon, April 2016
