At the Frontera, also known as Café Con Leche, is a 2019 action crime thriller film[27] written by Wesley Adkins, Ray Gallardo, Martin Santander and directed by Gallardo.[28] The film stars Santander, Gerardo Taracena, José Sefami and Nina Senicar. It was filmed in Mexico and premiered at ArcLight Hollywood.

Plot[edit]

In Mexico City, a district attorney and ATF agent join forces to look into a human trafficking case. They soon discover one of them may be affiliated with their prime suspect, a corrupt real-estate developer.

Production[edit]

Principal photography took place in February 2015[26] in Mexico City and Houston.[29] The film language is entirely in Enlgish for international marketing purposes.[30] Actress Mónica Sánchez Navarro acted with both of her daughters in the film.[31] Marie Adler says the film is "timely and relevant" due to the Latin American immigration laws.[32] In an interview, Santander talked about writing the female characters in the script "strong and independent."[33]

Cast[edit]

Release[edit]

The film was listed in the product guide for Screen International at Toronto International Film Festival in 2017[34] before holding its world premiere on January 25, 2018, at ArcLight Hollywood.[28] It had a limited theatrical run in Los Angeles on January 31, 2019[35] and the following week in Charlotte, North Carolina.[36]
